Job Title: Lead Software Engineer

The Purpose of This Role

We are seeking a skilled Lead Software Engineer to join our Data Engineering team in Workplace Investing (WI). As a member of the Data Engineering team, you will design, develop, and own scalable, resilient, enterprise-grade solutions that power MDM platform capabilities. Using modern technology stacks and cloud-native architectures, you will build and continuously enhance systems aligned with enterprise software development practices. This role gives you the opportunity to contribute across the full development lifecycle while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will apply your skills across all aspects of various projects, including design, development, and implementation. The Value You Deliver

As a Lead Software Engineer on the MDM Platform Development team, you will help build cloud-native solutions that drive the evolution of our MDM platform. You will have the opportunity to apply your mainframe expertise across the full development lifecycle, from analysis and development of mainframe and microservices-based solutions to API integration and deployment on modern cloud infrastructure, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful features and enhancements.

The Skills that are Key to this role - Technical / Behavioral

  • Deep expertise in the mainframe ecosystem, with a thorough understanding of business workflows, system interdependencies, and the ability to perform comprehensive impact analysis across applications.
  • Hands-on development experience with mainframe languages and technologies, including COBOL, CICS, VSAM, MQ Series, JCL, SQL, File-AID, Endevor, debuggers, and schedulers.
  • Experience in mainframe performance tuning and capacity planning, including identifying ways to reduce I/Os, CPU time, MSUs, and MIPS, using tools such as Strobe, iStrobe, and Platinum Detector.
  • Extensive experience in CICS online environments, including leading detailed impact analysis and conducting rigorous code reviews for complex CICS program changes to ensure system integrity and stability.
  • Exposure to CICS-to-cloud integrations in support of modernization initiatives.
  • Experience working with high-volume, latency-sensitive CICS online regions, ensuring performance optimization and system stability as part of mainframe modernization efforts.
  • Exposure to REST- and SOAP-based services integrated with mainframe systems.
  • Proficiency with the DB2 database management system and database processing concepts.
  • Experience navigating an Oracle database environment for triage purposes.
  • Experience with file formatting and comparison using File-AID; version management using Endevor; debugging and unit testing using InterTest and Abend-AID; and job scheduling using Control-M.
  • Experience deploying and supporting software releases in production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of, and experience with, the overall testing process.
  • Ability to work with business partners to help define requirements and solutions.
  • Ability to provide estimates and scope proposed projects.
  • A growth mindset, with a willingness to learn new applications and technologies every day and share that knowledge with fellow squad members.
  • Ability to debug and reproduce issues in lower pre-production environments.
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a dynamic work environment while delivering results.

The Expertise We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar subject.
  • 08–10 years of software development experience with large mainframe-based systems.
  • Proficiency with the DB2 database management system and database processing concepts.
  • Knowledge of native stored procedures is a plus.
  • Deploy and support software releases into production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with the overall testing process.
  • Any knowledge or experience in distributed technologies, cloud computing, and/or Java programming is a plus.
  • Ability to work with business partners to help define requirements and solutions.
  • Provide estimates and scoping for proposed projects
  • Ability to perform detailed analysis for maintenance and enhancement projects, both batch and online.
  • Proven and strong interpersonal and organizational skills coupled with effective written communication skills.
  • Confidence to think and act strategically, share innovative insights, and offer creative solutions to deliver exceptional user experiences.
  • Embrace flexibility and shift focus to meet the most pressing customer/client needs.
  • You bring a growth mentality to work every day as you continue to learn new applications and technologies and are willing to share that knowledge with your fellow squad members.

Shift timings 11.00 AM – 8:00 PM
