Accountabilities:

The Lead Software Engineer will drive the design, development, and continuous improvement of scalable software applications while supporting engineering excellence. Key responsibilities include:

• Designing, building, and maintaining RESTful web services and modern single-page applications.
• Developing scalable microservices and cloud-based solutions using AWS technologies to support business-critical workflows.
• Writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following test-driven development (TDD) practices.
• Participating in architecture discussions, code reviews, and design reviews while providing constructive technical feedback.
• Collaborating with product managers, QA engineers, and software developers within Agile/Scrum teams.
• Improving coding standards, CI/CD pipelines, automation practices, and overall development processes.
• Troubleshooting issues across application layers and supporting solutions throughout their complete lifecycle.
• Communicating technical decisions, project progress, risks, and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders.
• Promoting best practices in software engineering, system design, scalability, and application reliability.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across engineering teams.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate has extensive software engineering experience, strong cloud and backend expertise, and the ability to lead technical initiatives. Required qualifications and skills include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in software engineering roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate, and Maven.
• Experience building cloud-based applications using AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, EC2, SQS, and API Gateway, or equivalent Azure/GCP technologies.
• Strong experience designing and working with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or Oracle.
• Experience developing REST APIs and implementing microservices architectures.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools including Jenkins, Git, Maven/Gradle, SonarQube, and Jira.
• Knowledge of application security concepts, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and Spring Security.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills.
• Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or scientific applications is an advantage.
• AWS certification or deep production experience with AWS environments is beneficial.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Splunk, ELK, or OpenSearch is a plus.
• Exposure to AI and LLM concepts, prompt engineering, or AI-assisted development tools is considered an advantage.
• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to manage commitments and deliver results.
