Job Description

Job Title – Lead Software Engineer

The Purpose of This Role

This role, as part of the WI QE group, will be critical in supporting development of our capabilities relative to automation including supporting execution of our automation road map, working with team members to develop infrastructure and tools required across multiple technology stacks, working within guidelines and offering suggestions relative to governance procedures and overall development standards.

You will focus on testing and building test automation solution for all layers of software application (including end to end automation) in a Mainframe system You will be working directly with other Peer Quality Engineers, Software Developers, Architects and business stakeholders to translate vision and designs into sustainable business solutions. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of test automation solution for complex software applications, configurations and utilities ensuring they are built with quality and adhering to the engineering practices, performance and responsive to the device accessing the application.

The primary objective of the WI QE team is to enable the WI business in the US, while working with IT business partners in the US in a well-integrated way. Over the past 10 years the team has developed technical expertise on various functions within each business line of Workplace investments, across strategic new products and within data engineering. We strive to achieve technical excellence in each of these functions and help the WI business accomplish its long-term objectives. This role focuses on the automated testing of all layers of software application and building an end-to-end test automation suite for Mainframe system

This role demands a high level of collaboration across squads within SPS domain, including architects and systems analysts and developers to define effective test strategies for executing and automating diverse user scenarios, thereby contributing to the delivery of an exceptional customer experience.

The Skills that are Key to this role

Technical skills

  • 6 - 8 Years of experience predominantly in software test/ Quality Engineering.

  • Mainframe Systems testing (CICS Screen, VSAM Files, JCL, DB2, SPUFI) as well as Web UI, RESTful web services validations with Automation

  • Deep Expertise in analyzing batch job outputs and backend data (DB2, VSAM).

  • Jenkins / Git Hub Actions (CI/CD Pipelines)

  • Strong PLSQL / SQL skills

  • ETL & Data Replication Validation with Automation

  • Well versed with QE Best Practices such as Test Suite Management, Traceability, Defect lifecycle Management etc.

  • Hands-on experience with Java programming and experience with Playwright, Selenium etc.

  • Jenkins / Git Hub Actions (CI/CD Pipelines)

Experience in the following is a strong plus:

  • Validation of RESTful web services with Automation.

  • Validation of Event Based Architecture using automation.

  • Hands-on experience in Playwright & Karate.

The Expertise we are Looking for

Responsibilities in this Role

  • Translating business and systems requirements into test strategy, test scenarios and test plans.

  • Designing, developing, documenting, and maintaining optimized automated test scripts.

  • Rotational QE - On-call Support in Prod and Preprod infrastructure.

  • Adhering to Engineering Practices in development of automation framework.

  • Understand and apply BDD design concepts to evaluate software solutions.

  • Delivering accurate and maintainable code for automation and software utilities.

  • Measure and Report key QE metrics.

  • Accessibility Testing on web browser pages.

  • Contribute towards Quality Engineering chapter initiatives.

  • Collaborating with other technical resources to:

  • Suggest improvements for processes, best practices, and standards.

  • Identify opportunities to improve maintainability of automation platform.

The primary objective of the Workplace Solutions team is to enable the WI business in the US, while working with IT business partners in the US in a well-integrated way. WI comprises five business lines - Defined Contributions, Defined Benefits, Stock Plan Services and Health Care Group and Health Savings Account. Over the past 10 years the WS team has developed technical expertise on various functions within each business line of Workplace investments, across strategic new products and within data engineering.
