Your day-to-day tasks will include:

• Lead and mentor a software development team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Set performance goals, conduct reviews, and support team members’ career development and training.
• Act as a recognised technical lead by providing expert guidance on complex technical issues and supporting the team in overcoming technical challenges.
• Establish and enforce practice and development standards across the team to ensure consistency, maintainability, and high quality of deliverables. Define coding standards, development workflows, and documentation practices to promote best practices and continuous improvement.
• Take ownership of quality assurance within the team by implementing robust testing strategies, conducting thorough code reviews, and ensuring adherence to quality metrics throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Participate in client workshops to understand business and technical requirements and help build solutions that deliver value to the client.
• Support business development by understanding client objectives to create accurate project estimates and preparing effort estimation for both new projects and ongoing ones, incorporating technical complexity and quality assurance considerations.
• Assist with setting up infrastructures for development and execution, ensuring environments support quality and efficiency.
• Manage team workload and priorities to ensure timely, high-quality project delivery. Break down milestones into assignable tasks and collaborate with the PMO to align schedules, manage risks, track progress, control scope, and streamline workflows and client communications.
• Engage stakeholders to gather requirements and align efforts with business goals. Provide regular updates to management and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver integrated solutions.
• Lead design and architecture to ensure scalable, maintainable, and high-quality solutions. Provide technical guidance, conduct code reviews, and promote best practices. Advocate Agile adoption, collaborating with PMO to integrate Agile into project management.
• Monitor team performance, project timelines, and customer feedback to ensure high-quality service and continuous improvement. Drive a culture of quality and technical excellence within the team.

Your Specialized Skills:

You will preferably be in possession of a first degree in IT from a recognised University or in possession of similar certifications with previous experience in the software development field. A self-starter by nature, you must be able to work independently as well as in a team and must be an effective communicator in English and preferably also in Maltese.

How to Stand Out? You are knowledgeable and/or experienced in the following technologies:

• 5 years of experience in software development, with 2 years leading software development teams and focusing on delivering complex client projects.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, development frameworks, and modern programming languages.
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and Agile development practices.
• Experience in Microsoft .NET technologies (C# & .NET Core), web application & client-side technologies (MVC, Angular, React, JQuery, etc..), web service technologies (Web APIs, SOAP, REST, XML and JSON), and database technologies (MS SQL Server, T-SQL, PL/SQL, etc…)
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and Agile development practices.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to develop and inspire high-performing teams.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams, PMO, and various business stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Experience with Umbraco platform will be considered an asset

Additional knowledge and experience in other technologies, such as Apex for Salesforce, Java, Selenium for automated testing and web server technologies (IIS/Apache Tomcat) will be considered an asset.
