Lead Soccer Instructor / Referee

Department: Sports

Reports to: Sports & Programs Director

Position: Part-Time

Primary Focus: Youth Soccer, Ages 10–14

Position Overview

The Lead Soccer Instructor / Referee will work alongside the Sports & Programs Director to grow and deliver year-round soccer programming for athletes ages 10–14. This position will lead instructional programs, support assistant coaches, referee league games, and help create a positive, organized environment focused on player development.

The immediate focus will be launching Futsal Skills, Drills & 3v3! beginning November 3rd.

Key Responsibilities

Soccer Instruction

  • Execute program curriculum and session plans.
  • Teach fundamental and advanced skills including dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, defending, and game awareness.
  • Provide instruction and feedback appropriate for different skill levels.
  • Keep sessions organized, active, and engaging.

Assistant Coach Leadership

  • Lead and communicate with the partnered Assistant Soccer Coach.
  • Delegate responsibilities and provide guidance during practices and programs.
  • Model strong coaching and professionalism.

Soccer Refereeing

  • Referee YMCA youth soccer league games.
  • Apply rules fairly and consistently.
  • Manage game flow while promoting safety and sportsmanship.
  • Communicate professionally with players and coaches.

Program Development

  • Work with the Sports & Programs Director to grow year-round soccer opportunities for ages 10–14.
  • Provide ideas and feedback on curriculum, equipment, and program structure.
  • Help develop future clinics, camps, academies, leagues, and other soccer opportunities.

Ideal Candidate

  • Soccer playing, coaching, or refereeing experience.
  • Enjoys working with youth athletes, particularly ages 10–14.
  • Confident leading groups and communicating with players, parents, coaches, and staff.
  • Dependable, organized, and prepared.
  • Passionate about player development and creating a positive sports environment.
  • Willing to take direction while also bringing new ideas to the program.

Hours can range between 2-7, weekdays or Saturday mornings from 8-1.

Salary: $17-$18.00 /hour
