The Mechanic position will perform regular full-facility preventative maintenance. Must maintain road worthiness for fleet of dry van trailers. This means, changing tires, hubs, brakes, airbags and performing routine maintenance and annual inspections. Repair all malfunctioning equipment and machinery. Diesel knowledge is a requirement.

This position will serve as the lead mechanic for the facility and will be responsible for overseeing maintenance activities, supporting equipment reliability initiatives, and providing leadership and direction to maintenance personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs/installations utilizing a wide range of tools including but not limited to hand tools, power tools, cutting torches, and welding machines.
  • Maintain upkeep of all equipment on site.
  • Be able to change tires, light work, adjust and change brakes, wheel seal, trouble shoot air systems, replace landing gears with knowledge of welding.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working at heights and performing elevated maintenance tasks.
  • Electrical Experience a plus
  • Valid Driver's License and safe driving record required.

Examples of work involved:

    1. Must be able to work on tractor trailers:
      1. change trailer tires
      2. change brakes
      3. change out airbags
      4. diagnose light issues
      5. repair holes in trailer floors properly
      6. landing gear repairs
    2. Work on heavy machinery:
      1. front end loader / bulldozer routine maintenance and diagnose issues

3. Equipment on site:

      1. bandsaws
        1. change out bearings
        2. diagnose issues
      2. chop saws
        1. change out bearings
        2. diagnose issues

4. Manual feed saws

        1. change out bearings
        2. diagnose issues

5. Routine service of tractor, service truck and any other equipment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Frequent lifting and bending.
  • Ability of standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Working under trailers - underneath and on top.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work environment consists of occasional extreme temperature shifts ranging from very cold to very hot.
  • Exposure to dust and loud noise (hearing protection is provided).
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and moving forklifts.
