TOPS Level III Private Security License Required.

The Lead Security Officer supports daily security operations by helping coordinate staff, maintaining safety standards, and serving as a point of contact during assigned shifts. This role provides guidance to security officers, assists with problem-solving, and helps ensure policies and procedures are followed. The Lead Security Officer works closely with the Operations Manager, medical staff, and administrative staff to support safe and effective facility operations.

Essential Functions:

  1. Assist with daily shift coverage by helping track staffing needs and reporting shortages or vacancies as needed to management.
  2. Ensure officers follow facility security policies and standard operating procedures to maintain a safe working environment in collaboration with all personnel.
  3. Serve as a point of contact for security officers during the shift and communicate issues to the Operations Manager as needed.
  4. Respond to incidents and emergencies, including medical situations or disturbances, using approved de‑escalation techniques and procedures.
  5. Complete required reports and documentation for incidents, safety concerns, or unusual events.
  6. Monitor security equipment during the shift and report malfunctions or supply needs.
  7. Assist with security drills, on-the-job training, and coaching for new or existing officers.
  8. Maintain accountability of staff, offenders and property; adhere to safety practices.
  9. Participate in searches for contraband and provide security support as assigned.
  10. Assist with shift change communication by sharing important information with incoming staff.
  11. It is expected the incumbent will work overtime when directed to do so.
  12. Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED. Minimum of 2 years of experience in correctional custody or law enforcement experience to include one year in the supervision of employees. TOPS Level III Private Security License required. Continued employment is contingent upon passing exams and skills tests. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management. Must be at least 21 years of age.

Post Hire Requirements:

Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements to include maintaining licenses, certifications, and passing an annual background check.
