Job Description

ABOUT 4MATIV TECHNOLOGIES, INC.

4MATIV Technologies manages multi-modal mobility for school systems nationwide with technology to expand options and enhance service. We envision a future where all children have access to the learning opportunities that maximize their potential, and we are reimagining transportation to accelerate student outcomes.

We partner with schools to improve service, safety, and holistic sustainability, ensuring all students have access to the right ride. Currently, we manage transportation for over 50 school districts across cities including Houston, Indianapolis, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Phoenix, simplifying operations and expanding services for families. Every school day, 4MATIV manages outsourced vendors and operates a contact center supporting more than 22,000 student trips across over 1,000 routes for schools across the country.

Our team is committed to:

  • Working shoulder-to-shoulder with our clients as a mission-aligned and trusted partner
  • Building user-centered products to create lasting impact for districts and students
  • Valuing diversity of perspectives and experiences
  • Care for every detail and outcome
  • Highest standards of service and safety
  • Constant learning and improvement

The Lead Routing Analyst is responsible for owning and executing day-to-day routing operations for 4MATIV’s school partners, including both summer route design and ongoing in-year route maintenance. This role is deeply hands-on—this individual will spend a significant portion of their time actively building, adjusting, and maintaining routes to ensure accurate, efficient, and high-quality transportation service.

In parallel, this role expands beyond execution to include analyzing routing performance, identifying optimization opportunities, and shaping routing strategy. The Lead Routing Analyst will translate complex routing data into clear recommendations, model tradeoffs, and support both internal teams and clients in making informed transportation decisions.

This individual serves as both a highly reliable routing executor and an analytical problem-solver, with ownership over routing quality, system performance, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate is analytical, systems-oriented, and highly detail-driven, with a strong interest in solving complex operational problems and improving outcomes at scale.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Route Execution & System Ownership

  • Create, modify, and maintain transportation routes in routing software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with district policies, transportation regulations, and service-level agreements
  • Execute routing updates and change requests with a high degree of precision and ownership
  • Manage data flows between systems, including imports/exports and validation of routing-related datasets
  • Ensure all route assignments are properly documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.

Routing Strategy & Optimization

  • Analyze routing configuration to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and enhance service quality
  • Develop and model routing scenarios (e.g., bell time changes, stop consolidation, capacity adjustments) and recommend optimal approaches
  • Partner with Account Managers and internal stakeholders to design routing strategies aligned to school priorities and constraints
  • Support and, over time, lead client-facing conversations on routing strategy, including explaining tradeoffs and cost drivers

Performance Management & KPIs

  • Define, monitor, and analyze key routing performance indicators (e.g., route efficiency, utilization, on-time performance, cost per rider)
  • Identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement, and drive action against them
  • Build and maintain reporting to track routing performance and inform decision-making
  • Escalate risks and proactively recommend solutions to improve system performance
  • Contribute to improving internal routing processes, standards, and documentation over time

Data Quality & Analytical Rigor

  • Identify and resolve data quality issues related to student assignments, stop locations, and transportation parameters
  • Use Excel (or similar tools) to perform detailed analysis, modeling, and validation of routing decisions
  • Support the development of more scalable analytical approaches, including automation where appropriate

Collaboration & Operational Support

  • Partner closely with other Routing Coordinators to support both day-to-day execution and ongoing optimization of transportation routes
  • Coordinate with Account Managers and provide real-time routing support to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues impacting service, efficiency, or student experience
  • Serve as a key connector across teams, ensuring routing decisions are clearly communicated and effectively executed

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, logistics, transportation, data analytics, or a related field preferred
  • 2–5 years of experience in routing, logistics, operations, or analytical roles
  • Experience with data analysis, scripting, or automation tools (e.g., Python) is a strong plus

Technical Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets (e.g., data analysis, modeling, troubleshooting)
  • Experience with routing software (e.g., Traversa, EZ Routing, or similar) preferred
  • Experience with data analysis or scripting tools (e.g., Python) is a strong plus

Core Competencies:

  • Self-motivation: Takes initiative, working independently with minimal supervision, setting clear goals, and driving progress.
  • Systems Thinking: Ability to understand and optimize complex, interdependent systems
  • Analytical Problem Solving: Approaches ambiguous problems with structure, creativity, and rigor
  • Ownership & Initiative: Takes responsibility for outcomes, not just task completion
  • Attention to Detail: Produces consistently accurate, high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • Communication: Clearly translates data and analysis into actionable insights for diverse stakeholders
  • User Focus: Keeps the end-user (schools, families, students) at the center of decisions

Benefits

Salary Range: $60,000 – $80,000, per year

Benefits:
