Salary: FC6 £31,761 - £34,915 (placing and progression dependent on skills, knowledge, experience & qualifications)

This is a Lead Roadworker role within the Roads and Transportation Service carrying out road’s construction activities.

The role of the post is to lead a team in the delivery of a wide range of road and footway construction activities, delivered to a high standard, on schedule and in accordance with specifications.

Key tasks involve excavation, and construction works in the delivery of projects including but not limited to footway and carriageway improvement works. Operations include, laying bituminous material, kerbing, excavation, lighting and installation of street furniture.

You will be responsible for planning and organising day to day site activities including organising and scheduling resources such as plant and materials.

You will also be expected to assist in the delivery of an emergency service including winter maintenance throughout the year.

Seasonal working hours apply with summer and winter patterns, averaging 36 hours throughout the year.

You will be required to comply with Health & Safety requirements, and wear supplied personal protective equipment.

You should be a good, motivational team player as well as being able to work with the minimum of supervision.

The Person

You should have experience of road maintenance and / or the construction industry and the ability to work in all weather conditions.

You should possess good communication skills and be able to transfer these in different circumstances e.g. dealing with members of the public.

You should be able to lead a team, providing motivation and forward planning to meet project targets.

You should be a good team player as well as being able to work with the minimum of supervision.

You should be willing to participate in out of hours emergency standby rota’s
