COMP RANGE: $25 - $27

In addition to the Rice Operator, the Lead Rice Operator (1st Shift) must follow all plant safety, Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety rules and regulations. Documentation and paperwork procedures must be followed as well as verbal and written instructions and guidelines according to the job requirements. The Lead Rice Operator is responsible for leading the production rice-based products, exercising judgment to adjust salt and alcohol level, complying with standards and prescribed routines, methods or procedures, and involves making minor decisions. The Lead Rice Operator will back-up the Rice Operator. This role does not have direct reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Mizkan America safety policies, OSHA regulations, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures).
• Oversee and coordinate work activities based on production schedules, formulas, and established standards.
• Initiate start-up, prepare equipment and materials, monitor and shut down each phase of batch operation.
• Validate and conduct routine inspections of tanks, pumps, meters, valves, lines and motors to assure that all systems in the process are in working order.
• Communicate and troubleshoot abnormal conditions immediately.
• Monitor production processes through system, determine problems and make adjustments to maintain desired operating conditions with clear communication given to Operators.
• Provide Quality samples of product and/or conduct periodic laboratory analysis to monitor processes and log results. Make final adjustments to salt and alcohol levels.
• Conduct cleaning procedures of all work areas following the master cleaning schedule. Responsible for cleaning equipment, containers, and utensils as required.
• Validate required production reports and any other documentation specified completed by Operators for accuracy.
• Properly use forklift, and hands on experience with common hand tools.
• Participate in month end cycle counts.
• Follow all safety rules to include but not limited to LOTO and keep area clean and in orderly condition.
• Responsible for food product quality and safety.
EDUCATION:
• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required
• Forklift certification required
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• 4 years experience within a food processing, bottling, liquid filling/blending and/or consumer goods manufacturing/packing environment preferred.
• 2 years forklift experience required.
• Ability to use forklift, and common hand tools.
• Continuous mental and visual attention is required to perform duties, involving repetitive or diversified work requiring constant alertness or activity.
• Intermediate mathematics skills required. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and perform division calculations.
• Intermediate computer skills and the ability to learn new job-related software.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy required.
• Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be respectful and work well with all levels of personnel.
• Must be able to perform on-call duty on any shift and work overtime on short notice basis. Long-term, temporary assignments to any shift may be required to maintain manufacturing processes.
• Ability to work in high temperatures (hot or cold), working at heights and exposure to strong smells, dust, gases, fumes and chemical or require personal protective equipment.
• Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical aspects of the job as performed in an 8-hour workday.
• Must be able to see, sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, reach, bend, twist, ascend/ descend.
• Ability to pull, push, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., 50+ lbs. with assistance.
