Job Description

Role of a Lead Retail Sales Associate at our Burien store

SHIFT: Tues-Sat (9:30am - 6:00pm)

Works with the Store Manager and Call Center to set up retail stores for long-term profitability by selling brand-appropriate products, providing customer service support, and building relationships with customers.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provides superior customer service to customers and anticipates product needs.
  • Understands the demographic of customer base when it comes to ordering, recycling, and events.
  • Continually expands knowledge of sustainability and brand-appropriate products and services.
  • Educates customers about waste reduction and sustainability.
  • Represents and builds the Recology brand outside the store through community events. Some events will be outside of regular store hours.
  • Opens and closes the store each shift.
  • Sells products designed to reduce waste.
  • Runs the cash register.
  • Processes customer payment and other Customer Service requests.
  • Identifies and researches new products for sale.
  • Forecasts and creates transfer of inventory from inventory center to store.
  • Forecasts and orders core brands.
  • Ensures smooth operations of recycling pickups from vendors and Streetscapes.
  • Checks in, records, and organizes items dropped off for recycling.
  • Receives and labels products.
  • Stocks product on sales floor.
  • Maintains visual standards and cleanliness of the store.
  • Communicates and cooperates with other staff.
  • Creates monthly store schedule.
  • Trains new full time and part time employees.
  • Meets monthly with manager to discuss areas of opportunity and success.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in customer service and/or retail; or equivalent of education and experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of retail sales operations, including industry standards, requirements and Retail Sales quality measurements.
  • Knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Knowledge of industry specific software systems preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Principles of employee training and supervision.
