Toronto Animal Health Partners is seeking a dedicated, experienced, and motivated Lead Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our Emergency Department team.
As a 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital, our ER service is fast-paced, collaborative, and deeply committed to providing exceptional patient care. The ER RVT Team Lead plays a key role in supporting daily operations, mentoring team members, coordinating workflow, and promoting clinical excellence within the department.
This position combines advanced technical nursing skills with leadership responsibilities and is ideal for an experienced ER technician who is passionate about patient care, team development, and emergency medicine.
Responsibilities
• Provide day-to-day leadership and support to the ER RVT team and ACAs during assigned shifts.
• Promote a collaborative, respectful, and positive team environment.
• Act as a mentor and clinical resource for RVTs, technician students, assistants, and new team members.
• Assist with onboarding, training, coaching, and development of team members.
• Support adherence to hospital protocols, policies, and standards of care.
• Help identify workflow inefficiencies and collaborate with leadership on operational improvements.
• Provide constructive feedback and support team accountability in a professional manner.
• Assist with shift organization, patient flow, and delegation during high-volume or critical periods.
• Support team morale and engagement within a demanding emergency environment.
• Deliver high-quality nursing care to emergency and hospitalized patients as needed.

Qualifications & Experience
• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in good standing with the OAVT.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in emergency and/or critical care veterinary medicine preferred.
• Previous leadership, mentorship, or training experience considered an asset.
• Strong technical and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Ability to remain calm, efficient, and organized in high-pressure situations.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced 24-hour hospital environment.
• Commitment to teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.
