JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

JOB SUMMARY:

The STPN Radiological Lead Technologist is responsible for the safe operation of radiographic equipment, accurate patient positioning, appropriate use of radiation protection devices, and the selection of technical factors necessary to produce high-quality diagnostic images. This role also includes tracking patient studies and ensuring proper acquisition and documentation within PACS. The Lead Technologist assists staff technologists with prioritization and problem-solving related to patient care and imaging issues, serving as a key resource within the department. Responsibilities include managing the daily schedule, assigning daily tasks, and supporting workflow efficiency. This role contributes to the development and training of students and new team members, fostering a collaborative learning environment. The Lead Technologist assists with staffing schedules for the diagnostic radiology areas of STPN outpatient clinics, ensuring optimal coverage and operational efficiency while maintaining ongoing communication with STPN Office Managers. This individual supports the overall radiology operations of STPN departments and promotes high standards of patient care, safety, and departmental performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited radiology technology program.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience.
  • A.R.R.T. registered in Radiology, state licensed in radiology by the LSRT.
  • Current BLS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with patients of all types and ages.
  • Must possess strong guest relations skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Physical Effort required:

Constant (67%-100%) – lifting, pushing/pulling, hearing, seeing

Frequently (34%-66%) - carrying, handling/feeling, talking

Occasionally (1%-33%) - balancing, stooping, crouching, crawling, reaching
