Role:
The Lead Quality Engineer is a hands-on technical role responsible for leading design,
development and execution of Quality Engineering tasks. As part of the Rakuten Catalog
Platform team, the scope of this position relates to providing accurate, compelling catalog for
global businesses with millions of products and thousands of merchants. This platform uses Big
Data technologies, Cloud infrastructure, an open-source scalable search platform and cutting-
edge machine learning models. This role influences & leverages the best QA technologies and
processes to deliver high quality software with speed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Test Automation, White-box, Functional,
and Performance testing
2. Design, develop & maintain robust automated regression tests and test automation
frameworks
3. Create test plans and write/execute tests for backend Java applications and APIs
4. Perform scalability and load testing of APIs, Services and Big Data pipeline jobs
5. Work effectively with the Engineering team to quickly isolate, report & debug issues
6. Drive innovation and streamline overall Testing Process

- Knowledge and experience with programming languages (Python or Java)
- Experience in test automation frameworks like PyTest, Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, REST
- Assured and tools like JMeter, Zephyr TCM
- Ability to quickly code reliable & well-designed Automated Tests
- Experience writing and executing all types of complex tests
- Experience with databases like Cassandra, MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Proficient with Git, Unix/Linux commands, Jenkins
- Effective communication skills, strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work & contribute in a fast-paced Software Agile environment where multi-
- tasking and work/schedule flexibility is required
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years overall experience in Software QA, with 2+ years as a Sr. QA or Lead QA
- 3+ years experience Software Test Automation
