Overview Of The Role

KX is hiring a seasoned Lead Python Implementation Engineer, Financial Markets, to join our Implementation Team. In this role, you will lead the architecture, customization, and deployment of our proprietary OneTick-based financial products across AWS-hosted and client environments. You will design and optimize large-scale ETL frameworks, ensure high-performance distributed deployments, and serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients. This position offers the opportunity to directly influence product strategy, mentor junior engineers, and drive successful integrations for high-profile financial institutions.

Location & Workplace Type

This role follows a hybrid work model and requires regular in-office collaboration. Candidates should be based within commuting distance of one of our offices:

Belfast - The Weaving Works, Ormeau Avenue, Northern Ireland

Dublin - 1 George’s Quay Plaza, Dublin 2, Republic of Ireland

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, customization, and deployment of OneTick-based solutions for financial market clients.
• Design, implement, and optimize large-scale ETL workflows and data-processing pipelines. Participate in improving implementation practices, tools, and delivery processes within the team.
• Ensure performance, reliability, and scalability of distributed deployments across AWS and client environments.
• Act as a technical advisor to clients, supporting integration strategy and providing best-practice guidance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across distributed systems and production environments.
• Work closely with internal engineering and product teams to support successful client implementations.
• Provide technical input and feedback based on client requirements and real-world implementation experience.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

Essential Experience

• 6+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Expert-level Python development experience.
• Proven experience designing and maintaining large-scale ETL pipelines and data workflows.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud environments and with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
• Experience working with distributed systems and production-grade deployments.
• Experience in client-facing technical roles, such as implementation, consulting, or solution engineering.
• Experience working with financial services, trading systems, or time-series data environments (preferred but not mandatory).
• Proven experience in people management or technical team leadership, including mentoring engineers, coordinating technical work within a team, and driving delivery execution.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized deployments.
• Experience with OneTick or similar time-series / market data platforms.
• Familiarity with financial markets, market data workflows, or trading systems.
• Experience working with enterprise or institutional clients.
• Experience contributing to process improvements or delivery best practices.
