Job Purpose: Lead - Airside Construction is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of airside construction projects to ensure they are completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. This role involves developing and implementing construction policies, translating high-level strategies into actionable plans, and leading project teams to achieve project objectives.
Project Oversight and Execution:
Lead and manage project teams, including Associates and Executives, to ensure that all airside construction projects, including runways, taxiways, aprons, and other critical infrastructure are carried out according to established plans, schedules, and standards.
Coordinate with design, engineering, and airport operations teams to develop detailed project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
Ensure that all airside construction activities are aligned with the Airport Master Plan and operational requirements.
Implement traffic and construction phasing plans to minimize disruption to airside operations.
Construction Supervision:
Supervise all aspects of airside construction activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality of work, and safety protocols.
Lead daily coordination meetings with contractors, subcontractors, and on-site teams to ensure timely completion of work.
Review and approve contractors' construction methods, materials, and equipment.
Regulatory & Compliance Management:
Ensure all airside construction work complies with local and international aviation regulations, including ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) standards.
Manage relationships with airport regulatory bodies such as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), ensuring all necessary permits, approvals, and certifications are obtained.
Liaise with safety and environmental teams to implement best practices in safety management systems (SMS) and environmental management plans (EMP).
Budget and Resource Management:
Assist in managing/preparing project budgets by monitoring expenditures, allocating resources efficiently, and ensuring that financial objectives are met without compromising project quality.
Work closely with the Head of Section to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements while maintaining project integrity and effectiveness.
Stakeholder Management:
Serve as a key point of contact between project teams, stakeholders, and the Head of the department. Ensure clear and consistent communication to keep all parties informed about project status, challenges, and developments.
Engage with external stakeholders such as contractors, consultants, government authorities, and airport users to ensure all project goals and timelines are met.
Coordinate closely with airport air traffic control (ATC) and ground handling teams to manage airside access and construction-related disruptions.
Vendor & Contractor Management:
Review and evaluate contracts and tender documents for airside construction projects.
Work with the procurement and legal teams to manage contractor relationships, resolve disputes, and ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
Monitor contractor performance, manage change orders, and ensure projects stay within budget and on time.
Ensure timely processing of contractor payments and prepare reports on project financials.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Compliance:
Ensure that all activities comply with regulatory requirements set by bodies such as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Central Electricity Authority (CEA), and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEF).
Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance and address any issues promptly and promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the project teams.
Quality Assurance & Risk Management:
Develop and implement quality control plans for airside construction activities to ensure compliance with technical specifications and industry best practices.
Identify potential risks related to airside construction and develop mitigation strategies, including contingency planning.
Oversee safety audits, risk assessments, and ensure corrective actions are taken to maintain the highest safety standards.
Track and report project progress, identifying any deviations from the plan and addressing them promptly.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead and mentor a team of engineers, supervisors, and project managers assigned to airside construction activities.
Provide guidance on technical aspects, construction best practices, and regulatory compliance.
Promote a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the project team.

Education Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Work Experience:
12+ years of experience in construction management, with at least 5 years specifically in airport or aviation-related projects.
