Job Description

The Project Manager –Substation Projects is responsible for the end-to-end execution of complex 132kV and STATCOM substation projects, ensuring delivery in accordance with contractual commitments, technical specifications, budget, schedule, quality standards, and EHS requirements. This role has overall accountability for project integration, scope, planning, commercial performance, stakeholder management, procurement coordination, risk mitigation, and customer satisfaction across all phases of the project lifecycle.

The role requires a highly experienced project leader with a strong background in electrical power engineering and demonstrated success managing large-scale EPC or substation projects in Saudi Arabia and international environments. The successful candidate will have substantial experience working with key regional customers, including SEC, National Grid and ALFANAR, and will be capable of operating effectively within consortium, partnership, and multi-disciplinary delivery models.

This position demands strong commercial acumen, technical depth, leadership capability, and the ability to manage complex interfaces across internal functions, subcontractors, suppliers, consortium partners, and customer organizations. The Project Manager is expected to drive project profitability, maintain strong governance, lead multicultural teams, and proactively address project risks and opportunities to achieve successful execution and long-term customer confidence.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • EHS and Quality Management: Ensure compliance with EHS and quality standards throughout project execution.

  • Project Integration and Governance: Oversee overall project planning, governance, and execution to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Scope Management: Manage project scope and requirements to ensure alignment with customer and business expectations.

  • Schedule and Time Management: Monitor project schedules and key milestones to support timely completion.

  • Cost, Margin, and Financial Management: Manage project budgets and financial performance to achieve cost and profitability targets.

  • Procurement, Supplier, and Delivery Coordination: Coordinate procurement and supplier activities to ensure timely and effective project support.

  • Team Leadership and Resource Management: Lead project teams and allocate resources effectively to meet project objectives.

  • Communication and Stakeholder Management: Maintain effective communication with stakeholders to support collaboration and customer satisfaction.

  • Risk and Opportunity Management: Monitor project risks and opportunities and implement appropriate action plans.

  • Contract, Claims, and Commercial Management: Manage contractual and commercial matters to support project success and protect business interests.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or ElectricalPower Engineering.

  • Valid registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).

  • PMPCcertification from Internal GEV PMO

  • Minimum  8years of experience in project management, with direct responsibility for project scope, timeline, profitability, and delivery performance.

  • Proven experience managing electricalsubstation projects.

  • Demonstrated experience with major customers in Saudi Arabia, including SEC, National Guardother local customer like ALFANAR

  • Experience delivering projects in customer-facing and internally facing environments.

  • Proven experience managing projects in consortium, joint venture, or partnership structures.

  • Experience operating in international project delivery environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams, multiple interfaces, and projects with significant local content requirements.

  • experience in procurement planning, delivery coordination, and supplier performance management.

  • Proven track record of improving project margin and managing projects with significant financial, technical, and commercial risks.

  • Strong technical understanding of electrical substation systems and project lifecycle requirements.

  • Excellent project planning, prioritization, scheduling, and documentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets and financial controls effectively.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

  • Strong facilitation skills for meetings, workshops, and conferences involving both small and large groups.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
