Location: Thornbury, Bradford, hybrid working - 2 days in the office per week with regular regional travel to Yorkshire Water sites, pending office move to Leeds (LS10) from Summer 2026.

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Project Manager to join the Capital Programme Delivery team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

The Capital Asset Delivery team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

You will take a lead role in the effective delivery of multiple projects in both design and construction.

Where you fit in:

As our Lead Project Manager, you will oversee:

  • Taking overall responsibility for the delivery of significant construction and engineering schemes, either through direct leadership or by managing a project team and wider supply chain.
  • Operating as a highly experienced and competent project professional, able to lead complex schemes from early development through to close out, while maintaining strong control of safety, risk, cost, quality and programme performance.
  • Providing leadership, direction and assurance across multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring effective governance, clear accountability, robust reporting and timely escalation of project risks and issues.
  • Delivery of projects from conception to close out through the project life cycle, including multiple projects running concurrently. You will ultimately ensure that project delivery is in line with the business requirements in terms of time, cost, and quality.
  • Forecasting and assuring project and programme level expenditure, as well as key milestones in line with wider programme requirements.
  • Ensuring that works are planned and undertaken safely – knowledge and experience in construction is essential.
  • Contract administration within the NEC suite of contracts.
  • Responsible for identifying, communicating, and reporting changes including the identification and development of risk mitigation measures.
  • Management of multi-disciplinary stakeholders, both external and internal, to achieve project outcomes.
  • Promoting and supporting the safety programme.

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • You will be an experienced project management professional with experience in Health & Safety Management and Contractual / Contract Management.
  • You will have APMQ (or similar) accreditation and membership of a relevant professional body, ideally you will have NEC Accreditation, HNC / HND Civil, MEICA or Electrical Engineering qualification
  • You will benefit from having SMSTS.
  • We are looking for the successful candidate to have previous Construction or Engineering industry experience and wastewater or broader utilities experience.
  • An excellent communicator, both written and verbally, you will be able to present and communicate complex information to a wide range of audiences.
  • You will have proven ability in building up effective relationships with stakeholders and be able to engage with customers internally and externally. Developing and maintaining strong positive business relationships, to understand their needs and recognise opportunities.
  • You will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative manner to mediate and resolve project issues.

We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of 2 days in the office per week. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
