Job Description

As related customer equipment, facilities or infrastructure projects: responsible for project delivery, profit & loss accountability, and customers. The Gas Power Lead Services Project Manager will manage complex CM&U projects involving upgrades involving the following products: Industrial Heavy Duty Gas Turbines, Aero derivative Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Generators, Heat Recovery Steam Generators, and/or balance-of-plant equipment as GEV representative and focal point for the customer on project, owning customer relationship for the duration of the project, and driving customer issue resolution & bring GEV financial aspect to align region/country. Lead Service Project manager also will provide leadership, effectively managing and facilitating cross-functional team/ country service team to ensure for project success as well as engaging at ITO phase to advise/share to minimize the risk/optimize cost/lessons learnt from project execution experience.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Serve as the GEV representative and focal point for the customer on the project, owning the customer relationship for the duration of the project, and driving customer issue resolution.
  • Own project execution, including coordination of engineering, procurement, shipping logistics, field execution of outage scope and performance demonstration.
  • Provide Project Leadership, effectively managing and facilitating cross-functional GEV teams to ensure on time delivery, contract deliverables fulfilment, and margin attainment/ enhancement.
  • Understand, Own and implement Contract Terms & Conditions.
  • Manage project financials: sales, cost, margin, invoicing, receivables and change orders.
  • Drive project schedule; work with Project Planner/Scheduler on schedule creation and management.
  • Actively identify, manage, and reduce, avoid and mitigate project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Actively participate in process initiatives and project reviews to drive risk mitigation, best practices/ lessons learned, and project execution excellence.
  • Identify and capture Cost of Poor Quality.
  • Work closely with GEV region teams to drive high fulfillment and portfolio growth.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University,
  • Project Management experience or associated job experience
  • Obtain Gas Power Services PMO Project Manager Qualification within 24 months of assignment including successful training, passing a review board, and obtaining the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent. The 24-month timeline may be extended as needed to meet PMP experience requirements.
  • Maintain PMO Project Manager Qualification status through ongoing training and recertification as required.

  • Motivated to both plan and lead team as well as manage project administration.
  • Appetite for learning PM processes and tools, as well as CM&U products and technology updates
  • Ability to set realistic objectives, accurately appraise situations, detect risks and issues, and collaborate with GE internal teams and customer to find win-win solutions when issues arise
  • Embraces and demonstrates sensitivity to culture of customer and internal team members
  • Experience with interpreting or applying Contract terms & conditions and binding agreements
  • Understanding of GEV financial processes, revenue recognition, costs, margin, and quarterly forecasting
  • Understanding of project scheduling; ability to manage critical path activities to meet outage date
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in either field engineering, commercial, engineering, sourcing, repair, power plant operation and maintenance or other adjacent role with Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Generators, Boilers, AQCS, HRSG, or Aero-derivatives
  • Extended scope experience involving power plant equipment and auxiliary systems
  • Direct customer facing experience
  • PMP Certification, Project Management Leadership Program (PMLP) Graduate, or other Project Management training
  • Quality Certification or similar equivalent training
