✨Join Us at The Centre for ADHD Research and Excellence: Shaping the Future of Accessible Healthcare

At CARE ADHD, we're revolutionising private healthcare by making ADHD assessments and treatment more affordable and accessible to those who need it. Our client-centred approach, combined with lean methodology and a focus on continuous improvement, drives our commitment to excellence. We embrace an innovative mindset, encouraging rapid learning and adaptation through our 'fail fast' ethos. With ambitious plans to become the largest ADHD service provider outside the NHS within the next five years, we are committed to pushing boundaries and fostering innovation.

Care ADHD is on a journey to marry product-inspired practices with our clinical delivery, becoming an organisation where experience quality is inseparable from clinical quality and trust. We’re early in our product maturity - which means we’re building the product function from the ground up: the standards, the systems, the ways of working, and the shared language that will shape how we design and deliver change for patients and partners.

💫What we are looking for?

We’re looking for a confident confident Lead Product Designer (Experience + Discovery), to join our evolving and exciting Product Team.

As Lead Product Designer (Experience + Discovery), you’ll be the senior design authority within Product. You’ll own experience direction across our end-to-end journeys and lead discovery design - prototyping, testing, and turning insight into coherent, usable experiences across product and service touchpoints. This is not a UI production role. It’s a builder role: you’ll help define what good looks like, create the patterns others follow, and make sure we can move fast without losing quality.

You’ll work across diverse users and contexts: adults, children and young people (5–18), parents/guardians, Caregivers, clinicians, and ops/service delivery teams. You’ll sit in Product, but you’ll collaborate closely with Tech’s designers - building a positive, proactive shared community of design practice and empowering others through coaching and standards rather than line management.

This role is for someone who’s genuinely excited by early-stage ambiguity: comfortable shipping V1, favouring progress over perfection, and energised by creating the foundations for scale.

😎What You’ll Be Doing:

Own end-to-end experience quality (journeys, not screens)

  • Lead experience design across key journeys spanning our app, patient/parent portal, clinical interactions, and service touchpoints.
  • Ensure coherence across product UI, content, comms templates, and real-world service steps - so people know what’s happening and what happens next.
  • Design with accessibility and neurodiversity-aware principles in mind, balancing clarity, reassurance, and usability.

Lead discovery design and research (hands-on)

  • Plan and run discovery work using up-to-date UX methods: interviews, usability testing, concept testing, journey mapping, and rapid prototyping.
  • Capture contextual, in-the-moment feedback from real users and teams, and translate this into clear design direction and decisions.
  • Partner with Product and Clinical stakeholders to test assumptions early and reduce wasted build.

Create the design foundations (and build the standards others follow)

  • Establish and own our design system (starting from scratch), including patterns, components, accessibility standards, and interaction guidelines.
  • Ensure the design system evolves alongside a significant upcoming branding project, and becomes a shared asset across Product and Tech.
  • Create lightweight templates and artefacts that raise consistency and speed (e.g. journey maps, flow patterns, prototype conventions, research summaries).

Build a cross-team design community of practice

  • Collaborate with Tech’s designers to align discovery and delivery, strengthen quality, and avoid duplicated or conflicting patterns.
  • Coach and empower designers in Tech through critique, shared standards, and supportive collaboration (without direct line management).
  • Run lightweight rituals that keep design aligned and healthy: design triage, critique/review, system updates.

Partner to ship well (without being swallowed by sprint tickets)

  • Support squads through our delivery process with strong design direction, pragmatic handoffs, and design QA.
  • Balance craft with momentum: ship V1, learn fast, iterate.
  • Work closely with our Operational Excellence (OpEx) team to ensure designed experiences land in BAU through SOP-aligned, training-aware changes.

Collaborate closely with Product Content (and help define the interface)

  • Partner with the Content Designer (Product) to design content and interaction together - especially for guidance, reassurance, and psychoeducation surfaces.
  • Help shape how design and content collaborate day-to-day as the function matures (we’re building the model from scratch, not inheriting it).

For transparency, this role is not:

❌ Not a UI production-only role.

❌ Not a lone “design hero”; you build systems and enable others.

❌ Not a blocker; you help teams move faster by de-risking early.

🚀To thrive in this role you’ll need:

  • Senior product and UX design experience with a portfolio showing human-centred design in action (not just polished UI).
  • Strong service design and systems thinking across end-to-end journeys (digital touchpoints, comms, people, processes).
  • Excellent interaction design craft: you don’t digitise paper - you reimagine journeys to design intuitive flows, states, feedback and hierarchy.
  • Highly creative, conceptually strong and grounded: you explore options, bring a point of view, and design within real constraints.
  • Evidence-led and curious: you test early and often (prototypes, usability, interviews, contextual feedback) and iterate honestly.
  • Beauty with purpose: you’re passionate about elegant, accessible experiences that reduce cognitive load and build trust.
  • Proven ability to turn complex, high-stakes services into simple, intuitive experiences for diverse users (adults, CYP 5–18, parents, clinicians, ops).
  • Experience creating and driving adoption of design systems/standards (or excited to build this from scratch post-rebrand) in an early-stage environment. Comfortable coaching and leading through influence to elevate experiences and embed design practices.

SUCCESS MEASURES (12 months)

  • Clear improvement in experience quality across key journeys (measured and felt).
  • Faster learning cycles through effective discovery, prototyping and testing.
  • A functioning design system established and adopted across Product + Tech.
  • Reduced friction and confusion at key moments in the care journey (reflected in completion rates and reduced avoidable inbound).
  • A healthy, active design community of practice with shared standards and constructive critique.

✨What We Value

Care is at the heart of who we are - in how we support patients, and in how we treat each other as colleagues. We believe the way we show up for each other is just as important as what we do. Skills matter, but it’s our mindset and behaviours that protect the supportive culture we’ve built, and help us thrive together. We value:

  • Kindness - treating colleagues, partners, and everyone we support, with respect and care.
  • Transparency - being open and honest so that trust can grow.
  • Reflection - pausing to learn from experience and improve together.
  • Growth mindset - always welcoming feedback and challenges as opportunities to develop.
  • Accountability - taking ownership of our actions and outcomes, not to assign blame, but to learn, adapt, improve, and move forward.
  • Solution-seeking - focusing on constructive ways forward, even when things are tough.
  • Collaboration - sharing ideas, supporting one another, and celebrating collective success.

🙏🏻What You Can Expect from Us

  • Competitive salary (£70,000 - £85,000 based on experience)
  • Hybrid working (1-2 days in Canary Wharf)
  • 33 days holiday (plus UK public holidays)
  • Team get-togethers
  • A paid day off on your birthday
  • Office equipment when you join
  • Pension contribution
  • Be part of one of the UK’s most ambitious HealthTech start-ups
