Lead Process Engineer - Pilot Center (m/f/d)

What you will do

As a Lead Process Engineer, you will play a key role in advancing and industrializing liquid processing technologies within our Pilot Center and across the global manufacturing network. You will combine deep technical expertise in mixing, dispersing and polymerization with a strong understanding of process development, scale-up and industrial manufacturing to develop safe, efficient and sustainable production solutions.

You will lead complex process development and technology transfer activities from pilot scale through to industrial production, working closely with R&D, Production, Engineering, EHS, Procurement and other functions. As a technical leader, you will also shape investment projects, support the implementation of new technologies and equipment, and provide technical guidance to manufacturing sites around the world.

The role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of process innovation, engineering and manufacturing, with significant impact on the future development of tesa's production technologies. You will contribute to building technical capabilities within the organization while acting as a key expert and sparring partner for colleagues and stakeholders across our global network.

Your tasks include:

  • Lead the development, scale-up and industrialization of liquid processing technologies, including mixing, dispersing and polymerization, from pilot scale through to industrial manufacturing.
  • Drive process scale-up and technology transfer to global production sites, leading pilot and production trials, supporting start-ups and troubleshooting, and ensuring robust, reproducible processes.
  • Lead the technical aspects of CAPEX investment projects, including process specifications, acceptance criteria, equipment concepts and implementation of new machinery and technologies.
  • Develop safe, efficient and sustainable production concepts, process layouts and machine concepts, while acting as a technical expert for hazardous material management and safe handling within the Pilot Center and relevant production environments.
  • Drive process innovation and technology scouting, identify and evaluate new technologies and equipment, and contribute to technology roadmaps, patent research and intellectual property activities.
  • Lead cross-functional projects and collaborate with R&D, Production, Engineering, EHS, Procurement, suppliers and global manufacturing teams to deliver technical solutions and support their implementation.
  • Build technical capabilities through mentoring, knowledge sharing and the development of process engineering standards and best practices across the organization.

What you will need

  • Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Materials Science or a comparable technical field, combined with several years of professional experience in process development, process engineering, scale-up, industrialization or manufacturing technologies.
  • Strong technical expertise in liquid processing, mixing, dispersing and/or polymerization, with practical experience transferring processes from laboratory or pilot scale into industrial production.
  • Proven track record in technology implementation and technical project leadership, ideally including complex CAPEX projects and equipment implementation.
  • Strong analytical, structured and hands-on problem-solving skills, combined with an innovation-driven mindset and the ability to develop practical, scalable and sustainable solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional projects, influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively across functions, cultures and global manufacturing locations.
  • Ability to take ownership of complex technical topics while acting as a technical expert, mentor and sparring partner and effectively sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Fluent written and spoken English and German, combined with a willingness to travel internationally to support projects, technology transfers and manufacturing sites.
