The Lead Process Engineer (NDT Level III) is responsible for managing and establishing internal NDT processes (include FPI, MPI, ECI, UI and airflow testings) and system and other assigned special process. This position will touch all aspects of industrial gas turbine component repair process and develop the key solutions to solve inspection issues, as well as to train the technicians and audit the process.
Roles and Responsibilities
Drive processes to continuously improve the safe, quality, delivery and costs and ensure compliance with all governing specifications, codes, and standards
Administer the NDT Program, responsible for NDT Level III duties to include processes, procedures, techniques, training, qualification, and certification
Experience in implementing and qualify new NDT processes, including Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic, Visual, and Eddy Current, having a working knowledge of each technology and its strengths and limitations to ensure the proper inspection technique for the task.
Ability to troubleshoot, provide technical leadership, and correct NDT processes while maintaining product and process flow
Implement and qualify other assigned special process, procedures and techniques
Train and mentor Level I and Level II NDT technicians in current methods and new technology both on the Shop Floor and in the Classroom
Perform process assessments and leadership in audits
Research and implement new Inspection techniques and technologies to improve current processes.
Ensure safe practices are used in compliance with all governmental regulations
Identify, drive, mentor, and implement projects that improve overall production quality
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree from an accredited university with at least 6 years of experience in an engineering or quality position
Current ASNT NDT Level III certification in at least either 2 of the NDT methods: Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), Eddy Current Inspection (ECI), Ultrasonic Inspection (UI).
