Job Description

The Lead Process Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise for the design, development, and execution of process engineering activities on large-scale Upstream Offshore Oil & Gas projects. The role will lead a team of process engineers and ensure the delivery of safe, cost-effective, and technically sound engineering solutions throughout all project phases, from Conceptual Studies and FEED through Detailed Design and EPC execution. The position requires extensive experience in offshore oil and gas facilities and a strong understanding of Middle East/GCC operator standards and requirements. Previous PMC experience is highly desirable.

  • Lead and manage all process engineering activities for offshore upstream oil and gas projects.
  • Oversee the development and review of process design deliverables including:
    • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
    • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
    • Heat & Material Balance Calculations
    • Process Datasheets
    • Equipment Specifications
    • Cause & Effect Diagrams
    • Process Narratives
  • Ensure engineering deliverables are completed in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Lead process simulation and optimization studies using industry-standard software tools.
  • Perform design reviews and provide technical guidance to multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Participate in Conceptual Studies, FEED, Detailed Design, and EPC project phases.
  • Support process safety activities including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, and risk assessments.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables prepared by contractors and consultants.
  • Coordinate closely with Mechanical, Piping, Instrumentation, Electrical, Safety, and Operations disciplines.
  • Interface with clients, PMC teams, EPC contractors, and vendors on technical matters.
  • Participate in design reviews, model reviews, value engineering workshops, and constructability assessments.
  • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, start-up, and performance testing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable international codes, standards, and company engineering practices.
  • Mentor and develop junior and senior process engineers within the engineering team.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, and resource management activities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or Process Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Extensive experience predominantly in Upstream Offshore Oil & Gas projects.
  • Proven experience as a Lead Process Engineer on major EPC, EPCM, or PMC projects.
  • PMC experience is highly preferred.
  • Mandatory experience on large-scale offshore projects including Greenfield and Brownfield developments.
  • Mandatory experience working on Middle East/GCC projects.
  • Strong experience in offshore facilities including:
    • Central Processing Platforms (CPP)
    • Wellhead Platforms
    • Offshore Gas Processing Facilities
    • Produced Water Treatment Systems
    • Oil Processing and Separation Facilities
    • Gas Compression and Gas Dehydration Systems
    • Offshore Pipelines and Associated Facilities
  • Proven track record delivering large and complex projects with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
