About You

As Lead Pre-K Teacher, you are an energetic educator who enjoys creating magical moments that spark a lifelong love of learning in young children. You understand the value of play and the learning that takes place while children explore and create. In this role you will help students develop the academic and social skills necessary for success in their future school endeavors. You have an innate ability to recognize and make the most of teachable moments that occur throughout the day.

You have experience implementing or are willing to learn Conscious Discipline techniques as well as creating and executing age appropriate curricula. You are familiar with and practice accreditation standards and will play a pivotal role in our school achieving national accreditation.

A Typical Day

• Develop curriculum and daily lesson plans that are based on each child’s development and the goals of the Corner School
• Use positive guidance and co-regulation to help children develop the skills they need to manage their emotions and behavior independently
• Collaborate with a supportive team of teachers throughout the year with fun events and professional development opportunities

• Direct the day-to-day functioning of the classroom
• Maintain cooperative and professional relationships with school staff and families

Skills For Success

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or other related field, preferred
• Teacher Certification a plus
• First Aid and CPR certification required.
• May substitute relevant experience for education
• Minimum 2 years of experience teaching in a licensed child care center.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of developmentally-appropriate practice
• Must be able to meet physical demands of the role such as lifting children, helping with toileting needs, and the ability to lead emergency evacuations
