Job Description

In charge of Power System Studies, also known as Power System Analysis, you are responsible for conducting comprehensive analyses and delivering technical specifications for equipment and materials.

The role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including RMS studies, EMT studies, RAM studies, process improvement initiatives, subcontractor management, trouble shooting, and expertise in various power transmission domains such as Wind, Solar, HVDC, and HV substations

What will you do:

Power System Studies:

  • Conduct RMS studies including short circuit, load flow, temporary overvoltage’s, and harmonics analysis to ensure efficient grid operation.
  • Perform occasional EMT studies focusing on events like lightning strikes and switching transients.
  • Conduct RAM studies to assess the reliability, availability, and maintainability of power systems.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency of the Power System Analysis (PSA) process and RAM studies process.
  • Lead initiatives to streamline data collection processes and improve overall process efficiency.

Subcontractor Management:

  • Lead subcontracting efforts for PSA and RAM studies, ensuring efficient collaboration and timely delivery of results.
  • Provide guidance and support to subcontractors to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Troubleshooting:

  • Utilize expertise in power transmission domains to troubleshoot complex issues related to Wind, Solar, HVDC, and HV substations.
  • Implement effective solutions to address technical challenges and ensure system reliability.

What will you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in conducting power system studies and delivering technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools for power system analysis (PSCAD).
  • Experience in managing subcontractors and ensuring timely delivery of project deliverables.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Familiarity with power transmission domains including Wind, Solar, HVDC, and HV substations.

What will make you stand out:

  • Relevant experience in Power System Studies specifically on Grid connection study with detail modelling on Power factory (DIGSILIENT) which mainly includes Reactive Power Compensation, Harmonic, Flicker, Dynamic studies, etc.
  • Understanding of Dynamic controller and its modelling;
  • Insulation Coordination studies with detailed modelling on PSCAD for Lightning & Switching studies, Very fast transient studies, TRV & RRRV studies etc,
  • Understanding and preparing model for Reliability & Availability studies (RAM studies), system modelling on study tool e.g. ReliaSoft and Report preparation
  • Detail modelling for Relay coordination study (HV/MV/LV breaker settings), Arc flash analysis, Power factor correction study on ETAP.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven track record of driving process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
