Job Description

Job Summary

The Lead Planner oversees all the staff planning and ensures good practices are applied in project controls and planning in all projects. Highlights to management overall progress, delays, and areas of concerns in all projects. Additionally, supports projects in delay analysis and any complex project controls related issues whenever required.

Job Responsibilities 1

  • Planning Governance and Oversight

Oversee all project planning staff and planning activities, ensuring consistent application of planning and project controls best practices across all projects. Provide functional leadership, guidance, and assurance on planning methodologies and compliance with company standards.

  • Project Schedule Development and Control

Develop, review, and maintain integrated project schedules covering engineering, procurement, construction, and start‑up activities. Ensure schedule integrity through baseline control, structured updates, and formal change management.

  • Progress Monitoring and Management Reporting

Monitor overall project progress and performance, highlighting key risks, delays, variances, and areas of concern to senior management. Oversee the preparation of progress dashboards, KPI reports, and executive‑level planning summaries.

  • Manpower and Revenue Forecasting

Prepare and manage manpower forecasts and revenue projections in alignment with approved schedules and project execution plans. Monitor daily manpower requirements and deployments to support productivity, cost control, and delivery targets.

  • Delay Analysis and Project Controls Support

Support projects in schedule risk assessments, delay analysis, and extension of time (EOT) evaluations. Provide expert planning input on complex project controls issues, recovery strategies, and contractual schedule impacts.

  • Technical Review and Correspondence Support

Review technical documents, programs, and workshop scopes to understand planning and execution impacts. Review and prepare planning‑related responses to formal correspondence, ensuring technical clarity and contractual alignment.

  • Interface Coordination and Stakeholder Management

Coordinate planning interfaces between engineering, procurement, construction, cost control, and site teams to ensure schedule alignment and resolution of constraints. Facilitate planning workshops and coordination meetings as required.

  • Planning Systems, Tools, and ERP Integration

Ensure effective use of planning systems and tools, including advanced Primavera P6 and ERP platforms such as SAP. Support data integration, forecasting accuracy, and reporting consistency across systems.

  • HSE, Quality, and Performance Alignment

Support the implementation of HSE initiatives and ensure planning activities align with safety, quality, and cost objectives. Participate in safety awareness activities and contribute to incident reporting and resolution in line with company and IMS policies.

Job Knowledge & Skills

  • Principles of Planning and Project Management

Strong knowledge of planning methodologies, project management principles, and project controls frameworks used throughout the project lifecycle. Applies structured planning practices to support scheduling, forecasting, and performance management.

  • Construction Law, Change Management, and Claims Awareness

Sound understanding of construction law concepts, change management processes, and the principles supporting EOT claims and delay analysis. Capable of supporting contractual correspondence and schedule impact assessments.

  • Construction Planning and Scheduling Expertise

In‑depth knowledge of building construction planning, sequencing, and scheduling, including engineering, procurement, construction, and start‑up activities. Able to analyze technical documents to assess scope and planning implications.

  • Safety, Quality, and Cost Objectives Integration

Strong awareness of safety, quality, and cost control objectives and their integration into effective planning and project controls. Ensures alignment of schedules with HSE initiatives, quality requirements, and performance targets.

  • Planning Systems, Software, and ERP Knowledge

Advanced proficiency in planning tools such as Primavera P6 and familiarity with research, data collection, and reporting practices. Functional ERP knowledge, preferably SAP, to support manpower planning, forecasting, and performance management.

Minimum 8 year(s) working experience, 5 year(s) relevant working experience, 2 year (s) GCC is a plus
