The Lead Pharmacy Technician – User Acceptance Testing (UAT) serves as the subject matter expert for both pharmacy operations and Patient First platform validation. This role combines advanced pharmacy technician responsibilities with frontline leadership, ensuring successful rollout of the Patient First platform while delivering high-quality patient care.

This role operates in a production environment, completing real pharmacy work for live patients while validating system functionality, identifying improvement opportunities, and driving operational readiness. The Lead UAT Technician works closely with Pharmacy Supervisors and Managers to support department efficiency, lead by example, and ensure consistent execution of workflows and standards across the team. Responsibilities

The Lead Pharmacy Technician – UAT will

  • Perform end-to-end pharmacy technician duties for live patients using the Patient First platform

  • Lead validation of platform functionality under real-world production conditions

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for workflows, systems, and UAT processes

  • Identify defects, inefficiencies, and usability issues while maintaining patient safety

  • Provide structured, actionable feedback to product, IT, and operations teams

  • Support Pharmacy Supervisors and Managers in driving department efficiency and consistency

  • Lead by example through strong performance, accountability, and adherence to standards

Live Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities

  • Provide an exceptional patient experience in a phone-based environment using the Patient First platform

  • Answer inbound calls from patients, providers, and facilities

  • Place outbound calls to create, maintain, and update medication profiles

  • Perform prescription workflows including intake, clarifications, transfers, and authorizations

  • Support claim adjudication activities (prior authorizations, billing, eligibility checks, patient balances)

  • Maintain accurate and compliant patient records with strong attention to detail

  • Serve as a liaison between pharmacists, providers, and internal teams

  • Partner with pharmacists and technicians to support patient onboarding and ongoing care

Platform Validation & UAT Leadership

  • Execute live pharmacy workflows while validating Patient First platform functionality

  • Identify system defects, workflow gaps, and usability issues during real patient interactions

  • Document issues, edge cases, and enhancement opportunities clearly and consistently

  • Provide feedback on system performance, workflow efficiency, and user experience

  • Re-test workflows after fixes or enhancements to confirm resolution

  • Support pilot programs, phased rollouts, and go-live readiness

  • Contribute to development of UAT processes, documentation standards, and best practices

Team Support, Training & Leadership

  • Serve as a lead resource and mentor for pharmacy technicians participating in UAT

  • Provide training on department tasks, workflows, and system usage to new hires and cross trainees

  • Help coordinate cross-training through scheduling and communication

  • Support onboarding and ongoing development of team members

  • Assist leadership in diagnosing and improving team performance

  • Reinforce consistent execution of workflows, quality standards, and productivity expectations

  • Lead frontline training for pharmacy systems in partnership with operations, IT, and training teams

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all pharmacy activities meet state and federal regulatory requirements

  • Apply strong drug knowledge and pharmacy judgment to identify patient safety risks

  • Maintain high standards of documentation, accuracy, and confidentiality

  • Balance platform validation responsibilities with patient care priorities

  • Serve as a quality champion during platform rollout

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner closely with pharmacists, Supervisors, Managers, product owners, and IT teams

  • Act as a frontline representative of pharmacy operations during platform rollout

  • Provide subject matter expertise in continuous improvement initiatives, SOP development, and training materials

  • Share insights that improve both system design and operational workflows

  • Participate in workflow reviews, readiness assessments, and feedback sessions

  • Support additional duties as needed to ensure Patient First rollout success

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy technician workflows and patient care processes

  • Demonstrated ability to act as a subject matter expert and lead resource

Qualifications:

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB or NHA)

  • Active Pharmacy Technician registration with State Board of Pharmacy

Experience

  • Prior experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a live pharmacy environment

  • Proven experience in departmental workflows and pharmacy operations

  • Prior experience with ExactCare workflows and systems preferred

  • Demonstrated experience in training, mentoring, or acting as a lead technician preferred

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to work in a remote or office-based setting

  • Requires sitting at a desk up to 90% of the time

  • Role may require extended hours or availability outside standard business hours as needed

Schedule

  • Full-time position (40 hours per week)

  • Schedule may be adjusted based on business needs and platform rollout activities

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Functions as a lead and subject matter expert

  • Provides guidance, training, and support to team members without formal direct reports
