Lead Personal Care Assistant (PCA)
Location: Mercy LIFE Valley View, Elwyn, PA
Status: Full time
Shift: Sun – Thur OR Tues to Sat 9 am to 530 pm, 2 overnight shifts required per month
Position Purpose:
Responsible for delivering personal care and support to participants, ensuring their health and well-being. Assists the department manager with scheduling and staffing and provides guidance and support to team members as needed.
Position Purpose:
Position will work Sunday – Thursday OR Tuesday – Saturday from 9 am to 530 pm. Also, the position will cover two night shift rotations per month, working from 10 pm to 630 am. Days for the overnight shifts are VERY flexible.
This program provides services to a community specifically comprised of deaf seniors. All candidates must be willing to learn American Sign Language (ASL).
What will you do:
Supporting and guiding fellow colleagues and orienting new team members
Assisting the department manager with scheduling and staffing
Escorting participants to medical and therapy appointments
Monitoring and reporting changes in participants’ condition or behavior
Ensuring compliance with infection control, safety, and organizational policies
Maintaining timely and accurate documentation
Participating in care planning and staff meetings
Assisting with loading/unloading of participants in transport vehicles
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
CNA certification preferred
Supervisory experience preferred
Willingness to learn American Sign Language (ASL); ASL proficiency preferred.
Minimum 1 year of experience with frail or elderly individuals preferred; training provided if less onsite after hire
Excellent organizational and customer service skills
Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Ability to adapt to change, manage and be flexible with work priorities, and pay attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Office; comfortable with electronic communication and documentation systems
