Job Title: Lead Payroll Specialist

Department: Finance

Job Purpose: The Lead Payroll Specialist leads and supports the success of the CFI payroll department to ensure accuracy of payroll operations for the MCFI, iLIFE, LLC, and MCFI Home Care payroll processes.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead and assist payroll staff in the bi-weekly processing of all payrolls which may include:
    • Audit and correct documents and data submitted to generate payroll.
    • Complete data entry and edit input of payroll information.
    • Audit payroll control reports and analyze processed payroll for accuracy.
    • Prepare manual payroll checks as required, including determining wages, benefits, taxes, and other deductions.
    • Collect and verify documents submitted to generate payroll, i.e., garnishment orders, deduction requests, or employee documentation.
    • Maintain individual staff/client payroll files as needed.
  • Processes post-payroll reporting and tax reconciliations for each payroll profile.
  • Problem solves accounting discrepancies related to payroll issues with the Finance Department.
  • Respond to unemployment separation and wage verification requests.
  • Handle administrative duties related to 403(b) retirement plan, such as bi-weekly deferral changes, processing contributions, and assisting with hardship withdrawals.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax reporting and filing, as well as W-2 filings.
  • Maintain company mileage software and applicable updates.
  • Performs periodic auditing of payroll and benefit data to ensure data accuracy.
  • Complete requested employment verifications according to Agency policies.
  • Provide exemplary customer services to leadership, staff, co-workers, vendors, and government agencies.
  • Handle special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.



Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure and Credentials:

Minimum

Required Education:
Associate degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Required

Experience:
3 years related experience with Associate degree, or 5 years related experience

Required License – Certification – Registration Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional designation (CPP), or a combination of training and experience, which will provide the necessary payroll knowledge.

Physical Requirements, Visual Acuity, and Work Conditions:

Physical Requirements Work is performed largely in a fast paced, and at times stressful, office environment utilizing various office equipment including, but not limited to, a personal computer, copy machine, fax machine, mail machine, and multi-line phone. Work can be performed through a hybrid of on-site and remote locations with Director or VP approval and in consideration of business needs. The hours of work will generally be during regular business hours and average at least 40 hours a week. Success requires effectively communicating complex thoughts and directions over the telephone, by computer, and in person.

Visual Acuity The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal.
