A Brief Overview

Performs duties to provide physical and psychological care to patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Performs clinical patient care duties and assist nursing staff to perform diagnostic procedures, transport of patients to other services, manages and maintains equipment, supplies and orients new employees. Assists with scheduling and in formal and informal staff education. Will be expected to be a member or lead various committees throughout the hospital focused on improving patient care and be accountable for project management.

What you will do

  • Collaborates with the Clinical Nurse Educator and Leaders to develop, coordinate and validate Patient Care Technician staff competencies, orientation and education.
  • Assists with staff education, development of competencies and new employee orientation and may assist with PCT candidate selection.
  • Demonstrates good rapport and cooperative working relationship with employees, physician staff, all hospital departments, coworkers and other pertinent staff.
  • Provides timely information to the manager regarding the PCT work flow, staffing and customer service.
  • Identifies issues and recommends alternative solutions.
  • Assists with the collection and maintenance of records as needed by the Quality Assurance department, Joint Commission Accreditation and OSHA guidelines as may be required by law.
  • Provides input and assists in development of operational policies and procedures and assists in disseminating information to staff.
  • Demonstrates willingness to complete special assigned projects in a quality driven and timely manner.
  • Maintains competency in order to serve as a resource for Patient Care Technician personnel within the department.
  • Participates in staff assignments as needed to maintain efficiency.


Essential Qualifications

The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • 1-3 years experience as CNA/Patient Care Technician or related direct patient care position


Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • High School or GED Equivalent
