Church on the Hill (Grove, OK) – Lead Pastor The Big Picture Church on the Hill ( https://www.churchonthehillgrove.org ) is seeking a faithful, Christ-centered Lead Pastor to provide spiritual leadership, biblical teaching, pastoral care, and visionary direction for the congregation. The Lead Pastor will uphold the authority of Scripture, foster discipleship and spiritual growth, lead the church in fulfilling the Great Commission, and work collaboratively with staff and ministry leaders to advance the mission of the church. Church on the Hill is committed to its Methodist heritage and is determined to preserve and faithfully maintain the theological and ecclesiastical traditions of the Methodist movement, remaining aligned with Wesleyan theology and its emphasis on Scripture, grace, holiness, and discipleship. The Lead Pastor is expected to provide leadership and teaching consistent with these Methodist and Wesleyan convictions, and to help ensure that the church's ministries, worship, discipleship, and pastoral practices remain faithful to this heritage. Job Profile Spiritual Leadership Maintain a growing and vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ Demonstrate Christ-like character in personal and public life Lead the congregation through prayer, biblical teaching, and spiritual example Uphold the authority and truth of Scripture in all ministry activities Encourage spiritual growth and discipleship throughout the church Preaching and Teaching Prepare and deliver biblically sound, engaging sermons Teach Scripture accurately and effectively Provide guidance and oversight for Bible studies, small groups, and discipleship programs Equip members to understand and apply God’s Word in daily life Pastoral Care Provide spiritual guidance and counseling to church members while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards Visit and minister to the sick, elderly, hospitalized, and homebound Offer support during times of crisis, grief, and loss Conduct weddings, funerals, baptisms, child dedications, and communion services Leadership and Administration Provide vision and direction for the church’s ministry, including measurable goals for all programs Work collaboratively with church staff and ministry leaders to build strong, cooperative relationships Oversee church operations and policies, ensuring they are updated as needed and consistently enforced Participate in strategic planning and goal setting Ensure responsible stewardship of church resources Evangelism and Outreach Lead the church in fulfilling the Great Commission Encourage members to share their faith Develop and support local and global mission efforts Build relationships within the community and represent the church positively in public settings Staff and Volunteer Development Recruit, train, mentor, and support ministry leaders and volunteers Foster teamwork and unity among church staff and ministry teams Conduct regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback Encourage leadership development within the congregation Worship and Ministry Oversight Partner with worship leaders to plan meaningful worship services that align with the church’s doctrine and mission Oversee the effectiveness of all ministry programs Encourage excellence in worship, education, and outreach ministries Qualifications A shepherd’s heart, strong biblical conviction, and relational wisdom A commitment to leading the church with humility, excellence, and faithfulness to Christ Demonstrated integrity, humility, and accountability Ability to manage time effectively and maintain a healthy work-life balance A commitment to continuing education and professional development Agreement with and adherence to the church’s constitution, bylaws, and statement of faith Healthy relationships within family, church, and community Willingness to remain accountable to church leadership and governing committees, participate in regular performance reviews, maintain transparency in decision-making, and seek counsel when facing personal or ministry challenges Compensation & Benefits Salary up to $100,000 Parsonage provided for the Pastor About the Area Grove sits on Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees in the foothills of the Ozarks in northeast Oklahoma, a lake community of roughly 7,000 known for boating, fishing, and golf, and a popular destination for retirees and vacationing families.
