The Waukesha County Park System is seeking dedicated, innovative, and genuine individuals to join our top-notch team as a Lead Park Seasonal at the Waukesha County Government Center Grounds located at 464 Riverview Ave, Waukesha.

Work Schedule Information:

  • Scheduled work day begins between 5:00 am; remaining scheduled hours will be determined by the Superintendent.
  • Flexible schedules: consideration given for either full-time or part-time.
  • Weekends: Generally Monday thru Friday hours, some weekends if necessary

Typical work hours:

  • Part-time: 5:00 am to 9:00 am
  • 40 hrs/week: 5:00 am to 1:00 pm

CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION

Example of Duties:

Performs unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor involving the maintenance, construction and repair of the Government Center Grounds:

  • Operates mowers, tractors and other maintenance vehicles and equipment; utilizes a variety of hand and power tools in park landscape maintenance work; operates small equipment such as weed eaters and push mowers; assists in routine maintenance of such equipment.
  • Cleans restrooms and outhouses and picks up litter.
  • Waters, mows, weed trims, renovates and fertilizes lawns; prunes trees and shrubs; plants trees, flowers and shrubs; rakes leaves and cleans walks, fields, courts and other facilities; applies herbicides and pesticides safely.
  • Occasionally required to work special events performing duties such as parking cars, directing traffic, or taking parking fees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Essential Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Ability to manage crowds.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment necessary to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to accurately count and handle money.
  • Ability to withstand exposure to variable and unfavorable weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push/pull, and lift up to 50 lbs, on a frequent basis.

You must meet these Minimum Training and Experience requirements:

  • 18 years of age.
  • 8th grade education.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Some recent unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor involving the maintenance, construction and repair of golf course facilities.
