Salary Range: $20.00 - $23.00 Hourly

Travel Percentage: Negligible

1st Shift: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Every other weekend, 3 holidays per year required.

Qualifications
What you'll do as a Lead Packaging Technician:
- Conduct or oversee regularly scheduled automated inventory control system audits of both controlled substances and non-controlled medications.
- Perform vendor puts for all controlled substance medications into the automated inventory control system after Pharmacist inventory.
- Manage and document regular and proper cleaning, maintenance, and operation of all packaging machinery according to manufacturer and company specifications.
- Create and process reference photos and documentation for package inspection technology in a timely manner.
- Maintain and update automated packaging medication canisters.
- Observe packaging operations to identify and appropriately address equipment malfunctions.
- Perform daily quality checks of automated packaging output.
- Assist floor staff as needed with processing, packaging, and dispensing physician orders for medications, DME, and other medical supplies to residents in long-term care facilities, under the supervision of a Pharmacist.
- Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, and patient protocols.
- Comply with all current government regulations and professional standards respecting patient care.
- Participate in educational and professional programs and/or review professional literature on an ongoing basis to maintain knowledge and competency in current and developing techniques, professional standards, and the services offered by the pharmacy.
- Assist in resolving facility/patient problems under emergency conditions.
- Develop technical knowledge of the products/services provided by the pharmacy and be able to provide information of same to others upon request.
- Assist with implementation of quality improvement program to meet company and accreditation standards.
- Other duties as directed.
What we need:
- Current unencumbered license in the state of practice: certified pharmacy technician (certification not required for Illinois Pharmacy Technicians Licensed before 1/1/2008)
- High School diploma or graduate equivalent degree.  College preferred
- Pharmacy experience, including work with automated packaging systems, required.
- Ability to learn and troubleshoot pharmacy packaging software and hardware required.
- Successful completion of biomed, label management, and other technology and machine-specific training as needed to accurately perform duties.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Perform basic math functions.
- Knowledge of medication brand and generic names.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Sitting, standing, walking; at desk, in office throughout facility and pharmacy.
- Operation of office machinery and pharmacy equipment.
- Occasionally lift/move items up to 40 pounds.
