Salary Range: $23.00 - $27.00 Hourly

The role of the Lead Ophthalmic Technician is to work collaboratively with the clinic physicians to perform basic, advanced, and complex manual and automated medical tests to allow for proper medical diagnosis. This position requires excellent computer skills and to communicate efficiently with patients, physicians, and other staff members. Must be flexible in work assignments and schedule, demonstrate commitment to ongoing training and uphold to the highest ethical principles of maintaining confidentiality. This role also serves as a technical guide to all other Ophthalmic techs, supporting training and assisting team as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions of the Lead Ophthalmic Technician include, but are not limited to the following:
- Visual acuity measurement
- Refractometry
- Manual Tonometry
- Manual Keratometry
- Lensometry manual/auto
- A-scan – manual/auto
- IOL Measurements
- Measure pupil size and reactivity
- Test and measure eye muscle function
- Potential acuity measurement
- Brightness acuity test
- Visual Field testing
- Corneal topography
- Retinal thickness and tomography
- Retinal nerve fiber layer measurement
- Ability to Scribe by documenting the patient’s medical record and inputting any recommended treatment and/or procedures that may be performed by the physician
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- Five years of Ophthalmic Technician experience in an ophthalmology setting
- Ophthalmic Technician certification preferred – COA or COT
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in EMR and computer literacy
- Create and provide a positive, accountable, and inspired work environment
- Well organized and attentive to detail
