• 7-months Fixed Term Part- Time | 0.4 EFT, 30.4hrs/ft (Parental Leave backfill)
• $123011.20- $135532.80 (pro- rata) dependent on experience + Super + benefits
• Based at 81A Elgar Road, Derrimut | Will be required to work at other sites

About the Role:
The role of the Lead Occupational Therapist is to provide operational support and leadership to the Occupational Therapy services across the Prison Directorate, whilst taking in to account the boundaries set by the profession and the organisation to achieve and maintain a high standard of client care that prioritises the needs of the individual. The position is responsible for promoting clinical efficiency and effectiveness within the Occupational Therapy team and in working alongside the Chief Occupational Therapist in overseeing the ongoing development and strategic planning of Occupational Therapy services across Forensicare.
Duties:
• Coordinate, promote, champion and lead service development processes with demonstrable benefits for clients and the organisation.
• Contribute to the development, maintenance and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy service priorities and goals; taking a lead role in the areas which directly relate to the prison directorate.
• Demonstrate excellent clinical reasoning, analytical skills and constructive self-questioning, including highly developed expertise and clinical reasoning when supporting clinicians in completing Occupational Therapy assessments and recommendations.
• Formulate and document client focused needs assessments and contribute to service design in close collaboration and consultation with clients and the multidisciplinary team, particularly in relation to patients with complex management and clinical issues.
About You:
• Extensive clinical knowledge and experience in Occupational Therapy.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Possess a conceptual understanding of the theories of occupational performance and be committed to understanding and improving patient functioning through assessment and treatment using occupational models of intervention.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, with a clear patient focus.
• Demonstrated skills in the mental health and/or forensic field, knowledge and understanding of the needs of mentally ill people and of the issues of care delivery in forensic mental health.
What you need:
• Approved degree in Occupational Therapy recognised for membership of Occupational Therapy Australia – Australian Association of Occupational Therapists.
• Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
• The successful candidate will be required to register their qualifications on eCredential.
