Job Category: Non-Instructional FacultyBullis School seeks a Lead Nurse, Student Health to join our vibrant learning community. The Lead Nurse serves as a health advocate for all academic year students, faculty, and summer camp children and staff by focusing on the promotion of healthful living and prevention of illness and disability. The position promotes health and safety, intervenes in actual or potential health problems, and provides case management services. The Lead Nurse ensures continual coverage of the school health office during school and camp hours and provides care within the scope of school nursing. This is a full-time, 12-month position reporting to the Director of Wellness.

QualificationsEssential Functions
Academic Year Nurse Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain health history assessments on each student by obtaining:
- - Immunization records for new students and updates for current students
- - Annual physical examinations, permission to participate, and HIPPA forms
- - Screening records (vision and hearing)
- Record student visits to the health room
- Ensure immunizations are properly documented in accordance with state and county immunization standards.
- Ensure practices are in place to address and prevent medical concerns and follow protocols for the prevention and communicable diseases through education, early detection, reporting, documentation, and follow-up for students and staff
- Administer basic health care and First Aid to students and faculty
- Respond to medical emergencies
- Act as a liaison between parents and health care providers for students, as necessary and appropriate
- Coordinate first aid and CPR training for faculty
- Manage and dispense medications
Summer Programs Nurse Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure practices are established and followed to address and prevent medical concerns during the summer
- Acquire and maintain health records and required documents for camp staff
- Manage and dispense medications to campers
- Administer basic health care and First Aid to campers and staff
- Act as a liaison between parents and health care providers for campers, as necessary and appropriate
- Respond to medical emergencies during the summer
- Lead and facilitate camper health and safety training for all camp staff each summer
- Apply knowledge of COMAR regulations, as applicable to Summer Programs
- Align COMAR regulations with school policies pertaining to health
Other Duties
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Wellness

Required Education and Experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensed by the Maryland Board of Nursing or eligibility for licensing in Maryland or through a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
- BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing
- Minimum of three years of clinical experience, with at least one year of experience in a pediatric setting
- Must be able to exchange accurate information in situations with parents, students, and other health professionals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and the ability to learn new databases for record-keeping
- Ability to make good judgments and quick decision
- High degree of discretion and confidentiality, as necessary and appropriate

Compensation and benefits are competitive, with an anticipated annual salary range of $88,000 to $95,000
