Job Purpose: This role is responsible for managing MIS reports and maintaining records of critical information across various departments, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and analysing operational data to support strategic decision-making and risk management. This role involves coordinating with stakeholders for reporting, audits, and statutory submissions, as well as maintaining meticulous records and facilitating management discussions for continuous improvement.

Lead MIS

Stakeholder Communication and Reporting:

Circulate SRM (Station Review Meetings), ORM (Operational Review Meetings) and compliance reports to relevant stakeholders.

Prepare and present data for VVIP visits and management discussions.

Compile and distribute monthly review reports and site data to the Head Office, respond to queries and provide clarifications to the respective departments.

Compliance and Audit Support:

Prepare and share data for audits related to CEA (Central Electricity Authority), PAT, Environment, and Sustainability.

Facilitate discussions with management for approvals and reviews post-audit.

Maintain records and documentation to support compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Operational Data Management:

Capture and analyse data for the Fuel Management System, including inventory, consumption, and heat accounting for coal and oil.

Monitor critical plant issues, gather relevant data, and participate in discussions to identify and mitigate risks.

Track competitor data for benchmarking purposes and provide insights for strategic planning.

Business Sustainability:

Implement and follow IMS, AWMS, DISHA, and CHETNA guidelines within the department.

Promote safety of personnel and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols.

Implement initiatives to reduce environmental impact and promote sustainable practices.

Digitization and Automation:

Execute comprehensive digitization strategies to optimize operational efficiency.

Implement automation solutions to support overall organizational goals/strategy.

Implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.

Role Purpose:

To ensure optimal efficiency of the thermal power plant through continuous performance monitoring, accurate coal accounting, and timely generation of MIS reports for management decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Plant Efficiency Monitoring

  • Track and analyse plant performance parameters (heat rate, turbine efficiency, boiler efficiency, auxiliary power consumption, etc.).
  • Identify gaps and recommend corrective actions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Conduct periodic performance tests and benchmarking against industry standards.

2. Coal Accounting

  • Monitor coal receipt, storage, and consumption across the plant.
  • Ensure accurate measurement and reconciliation of coal stock (physical vs. book).
  • Analyse coal quality (GCV, moisture, ash content) and its impact on plant performance.
  • Coordinate with procurement and finance teams for coal-related data validation.

3. MIS & Reporting

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports on plant performance, coal consumption, and efficiency metrics.
  • Develop dashboards for real-time monitoring of key KPIs.
  • Present analytical insights to senior management for strategic decision-making.

4. Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory norms and internal audit requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records for statutory reporting and audits.

5. Team Coordination

  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, and fuel management teams.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior engineers on efficiency improvement and data management.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Power BI, and ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of thermal power plant operations and performance parameters.
  • Familiarity with coal quality analysis and accounting practices.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.

Performance Indicators:

  • Improvement in plant heat rate and efficiency.
  • Accuracy of coal accounting and reconciliation.
  • Timeliness and quality of MIS reports.
  • Compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.

12+ years of experience in MIS, SRM, ORM, or related areas.

Experience in the energy sector, utilities, manufacturing, or related industries with exposure to compliance and audit processes.
