Job Opportunity: Lead Medical Case Manager
Location: Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia
Start Date: Upon Contract Award / Phase-In Completion
Schedule: Full-time

Make a Difference Behind the Mission
Are you the person your team calls first when a case file gets complicated? Do you want your leadership to directly support the medical readiness of nearly 70,000 Air Force Reservists?

French Consulting is seeking a Lead Medical Case Manager to run day-to-day case management operations for the Aerospace and Operational Medicine Division at Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base. You'll carry your own caseload while directing the team that keeps reservists medically ready to serve.

What You'll Do

  • Lead our 15-person team and serve as the single point of contact for all AFRC support.
  • Process aeromedical and non-flying medical cases, updating case status in the Aeromedical Information Management Waiver Tracking System (AIMWTS), Electronic Case Tracking (ECT), and Physical Exam Processing Program (PEPP) as status changes.
  • Review case files submitted by Reserve Medical Units, the Aeromedical Consult Service, and Recruiting Services, confirming all required data is present before adjudication.
  • Provide quality assurance oversight on case dispositions completed by the Medical Case Manager team, catching errors before they reach the Government reviewer.
  • Escalate urgent cases and coordinate schedule evaluations with the Aeromedical Consult Service, the nearest Military Treatment Facility, and outside civilian providers.
  • Notify the Contracting Officer's Representative in writing of any staffing vacancy and the estimated time to fill it.
  • Provide courtesy notice to the Contracting Officer's Representative of any absence affecting the day's workflow, within 24 hours of the scheduled start time.
  • During onboarding, attend weekly transition meetings with the Government and lead your team's system-access coordination and shadowing schedule.
  • Schedule Co-Work and PTOC part-time personnel across the Medical Case Manager and Aeromedical Administrative Specialist teams to cover normal operations and any surge in casework.

Who You Are

  • You lead by doing the work yourself first, not by delegating from a distance.
  • You stay steady when a case file is incomplete and three people need it fixed by end of day.
  • You communicate clearly with commanders, first sergeants, and Major Command staff, and you know when to escalate instead of guessing.
  • You own a missed deadline instead of explaining it away.

Qualifications

Required

  • Demonstrated case-management/adjudication experience gained in a military or civilian medical-standards environment with experience processing and managing physical exams and medical standards, gained in a military medical environment or an equivalent civilian aeromedical, occupational health, or disability evaluation system.
  • Working knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire proficiency in, Air Force and DoD medical systems including AIMWTS, PEPP, Periodic Health Assessment programs, Joint Legacy Viewer, Management Internal Control Toolset, Salesforce, Moveit CIB, MyFSS, and BOMC KX.
  • Working knowledge of medical standards for retention, flying classes, Line of Duty determinations, and special operational duty, including the Aeromedical Waiver Guide and the Medical Standards Directory.
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disorders of human body systems, plus working knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 coding.
  • Excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex medical and administrative instructions to a service member's level of understanding.
  • Proficiency with PDF software and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), plus proficient typing skills.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a favorable Tier 1 background investigation (National Agency Check with Inquiries) or equivalent.

Preferred

  • Prior experience leading or supervising a case management, medical records, or medical administrative team.
  • Prior experience in a military or federal health care setting.

Education & Certifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, social work, health administration, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in a lead, supervisory, or team-coordination capacity within a case management, medical records, or medical administrative function.

Desired

  • Active professional license or certification such as Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Certified Case Manager (CCM).

Why You'll Love It Here

  • You'll run point on a mission that matters: your team keeps 69 reserve units and nearly 70,000 Airmen medically ready.
  • Full-time, Monday through Friday, 0800 to 1600 Eastern, with federal holidays and Air Force Family/Down Days off.
  • On-site at Robins Air Force Base, with situational telework available once approved.
  • A leadership role with real latitude: you build the team's workflow, not just follow one.
