A Little More About What You Will be Doing

The Lead Medical Assistant functions as a clinical team lead for the Medical Assistants in the office. This position supports the physician and clinical staff in the delivery of health care by performing a variety of medically related tasks with the ability, skill and knowledge to work in more than one specialty area. This position is responsible for the orientation and clinical training of Medical Assistants based on the approved standard work. This position also assists with providing a review of clinical and administrative skills, assessing the workflow and monitoring staff/scheduling coverage

  • Leads huddles to monitor, assess and evaluate department workflow
  • Provides orientation and training for Medical Assistants and administrative staff
  • Assists the Supervisor with the preparation, documentation and make recommendations related to corrective actions
  • Assists with the administrative and clinical (based on scope of practice) support activities including facilities management, patient billing, utilization management, quality management, risk management, human resources, and payroll
  • Prepares patients for provider by reviewing current medications and record in medical record
  • Takes appropriate vital signs and documents in the medical record.
  • Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs

Qualifications

Education
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Graduation in Medical Assisting from an accredited educational program.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience working as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinical/medical office setting required

Licenses/Certification

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
  • Medical Assistant Certification and/or Diploma from Board approved Medical Assistant Organization required
