Job Description

Fyfe is a multi-disciplinary consultancy providing comprehensive engineering, environmental, planning, and surveying services throughout Australia. Fyfe work with a wide range of clients in the Energy & Resources, Infrastructure and Property sectors to provide high quality, commercially pragmatic solutions with a strong focus on client service and delivery.

About the role

Our Energy and Resources Division works with major exploration and distribution clients to deliver specialist mining, infrastructure, oil and gas projects across the country. This is a key leadership role in our Mechanical delivery team and is offered as a permanent full-time position.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to be responsible for leading delivery and technical leadership of large and complex engineering projects across a range of sectors including Oil and Gas, Mining and Infrastructure (water/wastewater).

Duties:

  • Ensure engineering design practices and standards are in accordance with Australian Standards, guides and codes as appropriate, meeting industry best practice.
  • Review, prepare and/or modify engineering designs, plans, project specifications, project proposals, scopes of work and projected project cost.
  • Prepare concept, feasibility and FEED documentation and obtain relevant reviews and approvals.
  • Prepare and check data sheets for mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, fittings and vessels.
  • Attend and contribute to HAZOPs as required.
  • Deliver projects on time, to quality standards and budget requirements.
  • Mentoring and training of junior engineers where required.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
  • CPEng and RPEQ accreditation, or currently working towards these (highly regarded).
  • Strong analytical and technical report writing skills.
  • Strong understanding of facilities engineering and the suite of documents required for brownfield upgrades.
  • Strong understanding of interdisciplinary interactions and checking workflow, especially with process, structural and E&I teams.
  • Experienced in writing installation work packs.
  • Previous mechanical engineering experience in water and wastewater projects highly desirable.
