Iron Mountain is seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering teamIn this role, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of mechanical systems and products from concept through production while providing vital technical leadership and mentorship You will join a dynamic, collaborative team dedicated to driving innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence across global projects.
In this role, you will
Responsibility 1: Lead the comprehensive design, development, and validation of mechanical components and assemblies by generating high-quality three-dimensional Computer-Aided Design models, manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials to deliver optimized engineering solutions
Responsibility 2: Collaborate with manufacturing, electrical, automation, quality, sourcing, and project teams to optimize designs for production, facilitate root-cause analysis, and successfully coordinate cross-functional project execution
Responsibility 3: Ensure compliance with organizational standards, safety regulations, engineering documentation practices, and industry standards such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers or International Organization for Standardization
The ideal candidate will have
8 to 15 years of experience in mechanical design and product development
Strong knowledge of advanced Computer-Aided Design software, engineering calculations, sheet metal fabrication, machining, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Proven ability in technical leadership, problem-solving, tolerance stack-up analysis, and managing multiple complex engineering projects to tight deadlines
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field
