Job Description


This role is responsible for manufacturing quality execution for assigned projects, products, manufacturing areas, or quality processes at the Changwon Plant.
The position covers Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) components manufactured at the Changwon Plant and by its suppliers, including boiler pressure parts, piping, and selected steel structural components.
As an experienced individual contributor, the role owns assigned quality activities, including quality planning, inspection coordination, quality documentation, nonconformance management, root cause investigation, quality KPI management, shop-floor quality improvement, Plant Quality Assurance support, and manufacturing quality management for outsourced products.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Manufacturing Quality Engineer for assigned projects, products, manufacturing areas, or quality processes.
  • Ensure project, customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements are implemented throughout manufacturing, inspection, testing, documentation, and delivery.
  • Coordinate quality activities with Manufacturing, Engineering, Inspection, customers, third-party inspectors, Sourcing, suppliers, and other relevant functions.
  • Review and manage manufacturing quality records, including inspection reports, Material Test Certificates, heat treatment records, pressure test records, and final quality documentation packages.
  • Manage assigned quality issues and KPIs, including NCR, CoPQ, defect trends, inspection findings, Escape Defects, and corrective actions.
  • Lead or support root cause investigations, corrective action implementation, effectiveness verification, and read-across activities.
  • Lead or support product and manufacturing cell quality activities, including Built-in Quality, Control Plan implementation, defect prevention, process control, and shop-floor problem solving.
  • Support Plant Quality Assurance activities, including local procedure implementation, quality record control, audit readiness, calibration follow-up, and Quality Management System improvement.
  • Support outsourced manufacturing quality activities, including supplier readiness, quality planning, documentation review, inspection coordination, supplier performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate with Sourcing and the designated Supplier Quality organization for formal supplier qualification, supplier approval, and commercial recovery activities.
  • Use digital tools to manage quality data, track actions, monitor KPIs, and improve work efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7 to 15 years of relevant experience in manufacturing quality, plant quality, project quality management, quality assurance, quality control, supplier manufacturing quality, or inspection of industrial equipment.
  • Experience or working knowledge related to HRSG components, boiler pressure parts, piping, steel structures, or heavy fabrication.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing inspection, quality documentation, NCR management, root cause investigation, corrective action management, and effectiveness verification.
  • Experience supporting Plant Quality Assurance or outsourced manufacturing quality activities.
  • Ability to understand technical drawings, manufacturing specifications, material records, heat treatment records, pressure test records, and applicable quality requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work across functions, and drive assigned actions through closure.
  • Ability to communicate in English through technical documents, emails, meetings, customer communication, and supplier interaction.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in power generation, boilers, piping, steel fabrication, HRSG, or other heavy manufacturing industries.
  • Working knowledge of ASME, AWS, ISO 9001, ISO 3834, PED, or other applicable codes and standards.
  • Experience with welding, post-weld heat treatment, pressure testing, material traceability, hardness testing, Positive Material Identification (PMI), or other special processes.
  • Experience managing project or manufacturing cell quality, NCR, CoPQ, defect trends, Escape Defects, supplier quality issues, or quality KPIs.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, PFMEA, Control Plans, Built-in Quality, audits, supplier readiness, or shop-floor quality improvement.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct reporting authority.
  • Familiarity with ERP or QMS systems, Excel-based analysis, dashboards, Smartsheet, Power BI, Tableau, or similar digital tools.
  • Strong ownership, accountability, problem-solving capability, communication skills, and commitment to continuous improvement.
