Job Description

LOCATION:Las Vegas – Owens Campus

STATUS:FT Non-Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in building maintenance or a related field
  • Active license or certification in at least one skilled trade (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or similar) preferred
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of building systems, tools, and maintenance practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), email, and internet applications.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Must be available to work occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts as needed
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance and repair tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building systems
  • Diagnose issues and determine appropriate solutions with minimal supervision
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and code compliance concerns
  • Prioritize and complete work orders in a timely and efficient manner
  • Coordinate and oversee outside vendors and contractors as needed
  • Maintain maintenance logs, records, and inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and applicable regulations
  • Respond to on-call or after-hours maintenance emergencies as required
  • Assist in developing and implementing preventative maintenance schedules
  • Support shelter operations by setting up spaces, moving equipment, and assisting with special projects as needed

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
