
The Lead Maintenance Planning Manager will support the Schenectady Cores and Castings Maintenance Team by owning and driving the site’s maintenance planning and reliability strategy to maximize machine and facility operational availability. This role will establish a holistic approach to spare parts management, inventory strategy, and maintenance execution through the implementation and sustainment of Leading2Lean (L2L) and Maximo
The position will also lead maintenance readiness for new capital equipment installations, ensuring successful startup and ramp by integrating maintenance planning, spare parts, and technician readiness. This role serves as a key link between Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations to drive disciplined execution and continuous improvement.
Roles and Responsibilities
Own and drive the site-wide maintenance planning system, including preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability, uptime, and overall operational performance.
Partner with Process Engineers to develop and maintain comprehensive spare parts strategies, including BOMs, critical spares, and inventory levels aligned to risk and uptime requirements. Maintain and update schematics, OEM parts lists, and critical facilities spares documentation.
Develop, implement, and track planned maintenance schedules for site machinery and facility equipment, including leading planning and execution for annual maintenance shutdown events.
Lead implementation and sustainment of L2L and Maximo, establishing standard work, ensuring data accuracy, and driving adoption across the maintenance organization.
Own maintenance readiness for new capital equipment installations, partnering with the SCC Industrialization Leader to ensure spare parts, PM plans, documentation, and training are in place to support successful startup and vertical ramp.
Set maintenance planning priorities and standards across a multi-shift operation, providing direction and alignment to the hourly maintenance team in partnership with the Maintenance Leader.
Manage a Maintenance Technician / Materials Resource Planner to ensure accurate inventory levels, effective parts ordering, and strong system discipline within Maximo and L2L.
Drive continuous improvement through Lean and TPM initiatives focused on maintenance execution, parts availability, and equipment reliability.
Lead periodic physical audits of maintenance inventory and ensure alignment between system data and actual stock levels.
Serve as a key interface with union leadership to coordinate maintenance activities and support execution of planned work and capital tie-ins.
Act as a back-up to the Maintenance Leader as needed.
Although primarily a first shift assignment, this role requires flexibility to support and communicate across a three-shift operation.
Use technical expertise and analytical thinking to identify issues, remove barriers, and drive solutions across maintenance, engineering, and supplier interfaces.
What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, or a high school diploma/GED with at least 5 years of experience in a maintenance/manufacturing leadership position.
Strong experience with Maintenance Management Systems (e.g., Maximo, L2L, SAP), with the ability to drive system adoption and data integrity.
Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning, reliability, and/or TPM methodologies.
Proven project management experience, particularly supporting equipment installation and startup in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, maintenance repair methods, and automated manufacturing equipment.
Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, drawings, and schematics.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to work with technical systems such as AutoCAD.
Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to influence, align, and drive execution across teams.

The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
