About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Loan Documentation Processor who will be responsible for the preparation, review, and validation of commercial loan documentation for Business Banking, In-Region Markets, Middle Market and Specialized Industries. The role ensures loan documents are accurate, complete, compliant with credit approvals, legal requirements, regulatory standards and internal policies. The Lead Loan Documentation Processor serves as a subject matter expert for documentation-related inquiries, supports complex transactions, assists with issue resolution, and contributes to operations excellence through quality, risk management, and stakeholder partnership.


In this role, you will:

  • Support the Loan Documentation team in reviewing, documenting, closing, and disbursing loans
  • Review the most complex legal, appraisal, and title information
  • Prepare loan documentation, coordinate loan closings, and initiate loan disbursements
  • Monitor the loan disbursement process
  • Perform or guide others on complex loans that require planning, evaluation, and interpretation
  • Ensure compliance with company's policies and procedures
  • Identify and mitigate Loan Documentation risks in accomplishing business goals
  • Prioritize work and provide day to day work leadership and mentorship to the Loan Documentation team
  • Provide guidance and subject matter expertise to the immediate Loan Documentation team on generating loans, as well as technical and legal guidance within matters related to loan documentation


Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of customer service, loan administration, collections, or sales environment support experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Job Expectations:

Loan Documentation Preparation & Processing

  • Prepare, review, and validate loan documentation packages for commercial lending products, including new loans, renewals, modifications, and amendments.

  • Interpret credit approvals, legal requirements, and product guidelines to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness

  • Ensure all documentation aligns with approved credit structures, collateral requirements, pricing, covenants, and booking instructions.

Quality & Risk Management

  • Perform thorough quality reviews to minimize documentation defects, exceptions, and rework.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, bank policies, operational procedures, and risk control standards.

  • Identify, assess, and escalate documentation issues, inconsistencies, or potential risks in a timely manner.

  • Maintain strong attention to detail and adherence to quality control processes.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Partner effectivity with Credit, Relationship Managers, Fulfillment Teams, Legal, Quality Control, and other operational stakeholders.

  • Communicate documentation requirements, outstanding items, dependencies, and risks clearly and professionally.

  • Provide concise status updates, including pending requirements, critical issues, expected completion timelines, and next steps.

  • Set appropriate expectations with stakeholders regarding deliverables, timelines, and resolution plans.

Leadership & Team Support

  • Serve as a resource for team members by providing guidance on documentation requirements, processes, and issue resolution.

  • Support onboarding and knowledge transfer activities for new hires and less experienced processors.

  • Share best practices and lessons learned to improve overall team capability and performance.

  • Assist leadership in identifying operational challenges and opportunities for process improvement.

Process Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Participate in initiatives focused on improving efficiency, quality, controls, and customer experience.

  • Identify recurring issues and contribute to root-cause analysis and corrective action planning.

  • Support implementation of process changes, system enhancements, and documentation updates.
