ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Line Cook is responsible for ensuring that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion. They must comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards and must also maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers. They will follow all standard policies and procedures within their assigned department.

Hourly Pay: $22.00 - $23.50/hour

WORK SCHEDULE: Thursday - Monday / 10am - 6:30pm (Weekend/Closing)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Working with management and assisting with training of new staff.
  • Overseeing management request are being met.
  • Assisting in preparing meal ingredients, which includes all food handling for daily use as well as for Catering/VIP events.
  • Preparing soups, salads, and sauces as instructed by the Chef.
  • Plating and garnishing meal items in accordance with the instructions provided by the Chef.
  • Supervising the work of line cooks to ensure that all given tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that all cooking stations are adequately stocked with the necessary meal ingredients and cooking equipment is in safe working condition.
  • Ensuring that all cooking stations and kitchen surfaces are cleaned and disinfected before and after each shift and sanitation buckets are being used and replaced by guidelines.
  • Ensure that staff are adhering to standard food rotation practices to reduce food wastage and minimize the risk of contamination.
  • Works with management on online correspondence and assist in pertaining the catering /VIP orders.
  • Menu planning, Cash handling/ training, monitor health inspection readiness at all times, time and temperature log.
  • Inspect the quality of delivered food supplies to ensure that product meets Café standards.
  • Assist management with keeping crew on task /breaks and lunches while also taking yours to ensure coverage.
  • Assist management with the creative development of new sales products, Catering Sales, Online sales, and advertising.
  • Inventory/ ordering documenting shortages & waste.
  • Keep the recipe binder clean, organized, and complete, making sure all workers are following guidelines when making items.
  • Monitor FOH and BOH Duties and services are being met with adequate product and speed.
  • Keep up on all cook related duties.
  • Responsible for opening/closing Café in managers absence .
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent,
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
  • Some culinary school experience a plus
  • Must have up to date ServSafe Certificate

$22.00 - $23.50/hour
