The role identifies practice trends and risks, develops mitigation strategies, and drives consistent, timely investigations and continuous improvement to reduce critical incidents and organisational risk.

Reporting to the Investigations Manager, this full-time, 12-month maximum-term role is focused almost entirely on reportable conduct investigations. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Leading reportable conduct investigations end-to-end, from planning through to submission of investigation reports to the regulator
  • Developing and maintaining investigation plans in line with Tasmanian legislative obligations

  • Monitor incident trends, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement through practice reviews, gap analysis and service improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, funding and quality requirements.
  • Develop best-practice investigation processes, tools and training.
  • Manage project risks, issues and reporting to key stakeholders.
  • Build effective relationships with operational teams, leadership, regulators and funders.
  • Promote a culture of quality, child safety, accountability and customer-focused service.

What You'll Bring

  • Hands-on experience conducting investigations within the Tasmanian foster care or kinship care sector
  • Sound working knowledge of Tasmanian out-of-home care legislation, reportable conduct schemes, and processes
  • Proven ability to conduct defensible investigations using structured, evidence-based methodologies
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate investigation reports for regulatory audiences
  • Strong organisational discipline — this role manages multiple concurrent investigations with external reporting deadlines
  • Comfort working within a small, evolving team during a period of structural change
