Job Category: General LaborThe Lead Installer performs and leads the onsite installation, replacement, and repair of windows, doors, and related accessories. This role is responsible for quality workmanship, jobsite safety, customer communication, and onsite direction of installation team members.
Essential Functions
- Review work orders, measurements, specifications, and manufacturer installation requirements.
- Serve as the primary onsite customer contact and communicate job progress, expectations, and concerns professionally.
- Direct and coordinate the daily work of installation team members onsite.
- Remove existing windows and doors and prepare openings for installation.
- Measure, cut, assemble, install, secure, and finish windows, doors, hardware, trim, framing, screens, and related accessories.
- Perform minor drywall patching and finish work as required.
- Complete installations according to manufacturer instructions, company quality standards, and applicable safety requirements.
- Protect customer property and products and maintain a clean, orderly job site.
- Complete required job documentation, customer completion acknowledgments, field inspections, and second measurements as assigned.
- Follow company inventory procedures for materials removed from or returned to the warehouse.
- Properly use, inspect, maintain, and store company tools and equipment, including hand and power tools, ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and fall-protection equipment.
- Follow all company safety policies, required PPE practices, and promptly report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in window/door installation, finish carpentry, construction, or comparable skilled trade work.
- Ability to accurately read work orders, measurements, specifications, and installation instructions.
- Ability to safely operate required hand and power tools and installation equipment.
- Strong customer-service, communication, problem-solving, and onsite leadership skills.
- Valid driver's license and driving record meeting company Fleet Safety Policy requirements.
Physical and Work Requirements
This position regularly involves standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing, repetitive hand movements, and use of hand and power tools. Work may involve handling products, materials, and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds, using team lifting or mechanical assistance when appropriate.
Work is performed at residential and commercial jobsites and may include ladders, scaffolding, lifts, elevated work areas, outdoor conditions, and varying weather. Local travel is required, and occasional overnight travel may be necessary. Work schedules may vary based on project and business needs.
