Lead Inspector

Metals USA is currently looking for a Lead Inspector for our Port City/Tulsa, OK location. The Lead Inspector, under limited supervision, performs duties related to the storage and movement of inventory or equipment; reports to lead material handler or group leader.

  • Receives, places/returns items into stock inventory locations
  • Tags material for proper identification
  • Pulls and assembles customer orders in order of delivery
  • Operates yard truck for the purpose of loading and unloading trailers
  • Operates cranes to put up stock in bins or load/unload trailers
  • Operates forklift (5k or 10k) to load/unload trailers
  • Completes work order paperwork/documentation
  • Restocks material

Qualifications

  • Basic reading and writing comprehension in English (to read instructions, tickets, safety and policies manuals)
  • Basic measuring skills to read and convert English and Metric systems
  • Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions
  • Demonstrated manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination
  • Minimum experience of six (6) months experience as a Material Handler III or Machine Operator Helper
  • Minimum experience of six (6) months on operating an overhead crane

Physical Demands:

Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time ( > 5.5 hours per day)

  • Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend
  • Lift, carry, push and/or pull 51 -- 100 lbs. with assistance

Other Physical Requirements:

  • Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Steel-toed boots or metatarsal boots
  • Hard hats with chin strap; chin strap must be worn at all times while in the warehouse
  • Protective eyewear
  • Hand protection
  • Arm guards/sleeves
  • Hearing protection if required by the hearing conservation program

Work Environment:

May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.

  • Environmental temperature changes hot & cold
  • Working inside and outside of an industrial warehouse
  • Moderate to loud levels
  • Vibration
  • Oils, dust, fumes and metallic particles
  • Day and night shifts
  • Must be able to pass forklift certification given by Metals USA on 5k and 10k forklifts
  • Knowledge of standard to metric system conversion desired
  • Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen
