Hybrid WorkingThe Lead Infra Engineer will lead a team of Infra engineers within a Lab or Platform managing one or more technical products. Accountable for the associated Infrastructure strategy, security strategy and technical product roadmaps across the Lab/Platform. Includes measuring and reporting effectiveness of automation and orchestration to senior stakeholders.

  • Collaboration in shaping GCP/Azure and Cloud-technology roadmaps
  • Finding opportunities & use-cases for new features and cloud-based products
  • Collaboratively working with the business and other engineering teams to design then build and release enterprise-class solutions that progress the programme’s roadmap
  • Appreciation for implications of operating in an enterprise environment
  • Ensuring released services are resilient and optimised for cost and scalability
  • Accountability for quality of technical delivery and code quality

The role will require you to be ‘hands-on’ and able to lead from the front – setting an example of behaviours and practices for team members to learn from and adopt in their own careers and development. This role will blend both deep domain and technical expertise within the Cloud topics.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead the design and development of the foundational platform that supports our microservices infrastructure using best practices and modern technologies.
  • Build, test, and deploy the foundational platform and microservices running on GCP/Azure infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for both the platform.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to ensure high availability and reliability of the platform.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of microservices with the foundational platform and other systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to the squads and engineering team.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices in software development, Cyber, security, and compliance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Driving identification of opportunities for and delivery of enterprise-class automated solutions
  • Primary escalation point for blockers within your engineering delivery scope, to either push for resolution or escalate beyond to remove
  • At this level the role is looking for leadership and blend of both deep domain and technical expertise within a team and show great passion, coaching and developing people in a "player-coach" model.

What you will need:

  • Strong experience in designing and building foundational platforms architecture using modern technologies.
  • Strong experience in GCP/Azure services, including networking, GKE, APIGEE, Cloud Function, and Data products.
  • Experience in managing cloud infrastructure on GCP/Azure using automation tools, such as Jenkins/ Harness, GItOps, Terraform, or TF cloud.
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, CircleCI, or gitapps.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong experience in software development using languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js.
  • Strong Engineering pedigree with the ability to translate theory into practice to drive performance
  • Proven experience building and developing a highly engaged, high performing, diverse and talented team across multiple locations with clearly defined career progression opportunities
  • Skilled at leveraging data to drive decisions and identify and implement improvement opportunities
  • Passionate about innovation and exploring new technologies to drive business performance
  • Accustomed to operating in a fast- paced, changing environment where adaptability and navigating ambiguity are key to succeeding.

  • Strong experience in a consumer product, b2c or App based environments
  • Stayed close to the technology, and is ideally from a hands-on engineering background
